Good entry-level 801.11ac access point

I'm using this with a Verizon-supplied Actiontec router with the router's WiFi radio disabled. Setup was trivial. Speed is quite adequate for my FiOS Internet connection; though I only have one 802.11ac client on the network and can't really test the internal network speed there.

802.11ac support; theoretical maximum of 867 Mbits/s on 5GHz band; easy setup; on/off switch; good price

Range on 5GHz band could be better; plastic case

Strong Signal and Simple Setup

I wanted something to extend the range of my wireless signal from my router so I thought this would be perfect. There are three different modes in which you can use this, access point, repeater, or bridge.

Does its job fairly well. No complaints, yet.

This product does fairly well as a reverse access point. (As in this unit will connect to an existing WiFi channel and allow LAN connection to be connected to the wireless network.) Paired up with the Linksys WRT1900AC, this performs better than I have expected.

Good AP for the money

Good dual band AC access point with lower signal strength, but good for the money.

AC band and for the price, this is a good buy especially if you can price beat it; Dual band capability is also a strength; Low power consumption; Low heat - you can feel it's a bit warm, but that's about it

I am constantly getting 50-60Mbps connection rates on the 2.4GHz band; The range is not that great; I am getting 5 bars when I am 0.5m away from the access point; Besides that, it's got signal that goes up to 70-80m away, but it's 2 bars and it cannot connect.

Short range

I bought this for use in a small office environment. We have a small network running Windows Server 2008. I wanted an access point for cell phones and laptops. It was very easy to install and set up. But its range is very disappointing.

If you need a pure AP, this is a good choice

The installation instructions did not work, but all that was necessary was to plug it into the network and find out what IP address it was assigned, then use a browser and from then on it's all straightforward.

D-Link DAP-1665 MU-MIMO Dual-Band AC1200 Wave 2 Wi-Fi Access Point / Range Extender (Multiple Operation Modes)

Very happy with this AP, great WIFI range and throughput. Very simple to instal and use. I just bought another one for my daughters house.
