This is my first slow cooker from Cuisinart, but not my first product from this manufacturer. It does what it advertises. Being able to brown/saut?? in the pot and then go to the slow cooker is great. No more extra pans to clean. The pan is light to handle and makes it a breeze to clean.

Update: received new unit. They don't send you just the insert. So you pay them to ship a new unit then it was $58 to ship the faulty one back. Ridiculous. Good in theory but I will never buy Cuisinart again. I read the reviews about faulty liner and the coating coming off but I still bought it.

I spend 6 mos/yr snowbirding in an RV having ltd storage/counterspace. While this unit is large, I have eliminated several other items; slowcooker, stovetop skillet, a electric skillet/cooker combo, and may even eliminate my stovetop pasta pot. Fewer pots/dishes to cleanup.

I use this all the time since I got it in 2011. I just love being able to brown & saute then slow cook! It happens all in 1 pot! Bonus, easy to clean because it's nonstick surface. I've got one thing on my wish list for this cooker, I wish the lid fit tighter. It is really almost PERFECT!

Works well as a steamer, slow cooker with option of searing right before .. very savoury meals with no salt added only dried herbs and topping with fresh herbs.
