Earlier this year Corsair announced what would be their most affordable computer case to date, the Carbide 100R. Selling for a price of just $50, without the need for rebates, should spark the interest of budget builders.

Corsair has really delivered a great product here and while there is essentially nothing new or innovative on offer, it ticks all the right boxes. The 100R Silent I looked at today is a great product and it offers incredibly competitive value for money.

Corsair, or Corsair Microsystems as they were originally named when established back in 1994 started out as a developer of Level 2 Cache modules for OEMs. Intel eventually incorporated the Level 2 Cache into their processors which is when Corsair start to focus on DRAM modules.

For 50 to 60 USD Corsair has a nice little offering with the 100R, certainly its not a grand product or anything, in fact it's quite a bit of metal and plastic with somewhat common looks. The 100R however does shin in its price range thanks to a very decent feature-set.

There are certainly lots of things the Carbide 100R Silent Edition does right. It takes much of what was good about the Spec-01 and the exterior is, as we're sure you'll agree, much improved. With dust filtering, dual USB 3 ports, fan control and a removable HDD cage, the 100R is well-featured.

The Corsair Carbide 100R Silent Edition is a great quality case that isn't going to break the bank. If you're in the market for a quiet case the Carbide 100R Silent Edition should be at the top of your list.
