Underwhelming

I was able to see two atmospheric bands of Jupiter with some difficulty (I used several lenses and verified the collimation) and the Orion Nebula was very faint smudge. I expected more from the telescope of the year.

Accurate; Compact; Easy to Use

Difficult To Focus; Poor Lens Quality

Great scope

Love this scope. I did a lot of research before buying and read a lot of reviews. I'm a fan of technology but was on a budget. I have this connected to a laptop running some shareware astrology software (Stellarium).

Good price; Beautifully crisp image

Fantastic product Delivered to Oz

Spent quite a bit of time working out the exact package I wanted, and the SE6 ticked all the boxes but was too pricey in Sydney (about double the cost). I was a bit nervous about shipping it such a long way but B&H managed to get it to me in just 4 days and it didn't even need collimation on...

I purchased this telescope because I am not that knowledgeable about the position of some of the objects in the night sky that I wanted to see. My old telescope was hard to observe thru and very frustrating so I wanted an easier observing tool.

Pricing

Great scope, however the price appears to be anticipating our Canadian dollar continuing to fall against the American. Local pricing can be found at less than $800

The best entry level telescope you can buy

If you are serious about getting into astronomy, this is the best Nexstar to get, and the best overall in my opinion.

Portable; easy to align; does not require much regular maintenance

Chews through batteries and not the best at viewing deep space objects

Great telescope - powerful and easy to use, a good balance between small and large scopes

I've been researching telescopes for about 18 months now, after playing with a Celestron Powerseeker 127eq. I finally settled on the Nexstar 6SE, and got it on sale during the holidays in 2016. If you've also done some research, all of the telescope options can make your head spin.
