The XA10 has a boxy kind of look to it that speaks professional - functional rather than sleek. Landcruiser rather than Porche in its looks. Canon managed to get the test camera to us in time for two weeks camping and four wheel driving through Arkaroola and the Flinders Ranges, some 700kms north of...

Review: Canon XA10
Canon's XA10 is the smallest and lightest professional grade video camera in their lineup. It's is a ‘prosumer' model that serves as a great entry point into shooting higher end video than those consumer grade camcorders generally allow.

I am revising my opinion of Canon's XA10 professional HD camcorder-upward. Interestingly enough, I've revisited test footage of the XA10 as part of a comparison with a newer camcorder, and...I have to say I like the XA10's footage a lot better.

Canon XA10 Pro Camcorder Reviewed
In the pro world of videography it's hard to take anything this small too seriously. However, the XA10 is larger than life in terms of features, usability, and quality imaging.
Pros:
- Detachable handle
- XLR audio inputs and mic mount
- Small form makes it extremely portable
Cons:
- Lightweight body lends to increased camera shake

OUT OF BOX AWESOMENESS
The canon xa10 is was a great surprise right out of the box. We put the battery on and "blam!" it fired right up and we started shooting. The audio is obviously limited but with external mic ports (xlr) and shotgun holster, sound is easy to get up to snuff.
Pros:
- Easy to Use
- Great Picture Quality
- Large Clear LCD
Cons:
- Poor Sound

I use 2 of these cameras for filming live bands. I must say that the low-light clarity and colour reproduction blows away my Panasonic TM700. Also, consider that I spent an additional $1000 the Panny to get the handle, extra memory, XLR ins, a wide angle lens for more light and a lens hood.

This product meets my needs very well
I was looking for a 3rd camera for weddings and one that I could use on my steddie pod. This seems to be the perfect fit and with face recognition as well it's a great tool for those cinematic shots without breaking the bank or my arm.
Pros:
- Good Image Stabilization
- Good in Low Light
- Great Picture Quality
- Large Clear LCD
- Small light and powerful

Great image quality, but some nits
This is a fine camcorder in a very compact package, but a few nits: You have to open the LCD screen in order to access the headphone jack, so you can't operate in electronic viewfinder and headphone mode.
Pros:
- Easy to Use
- Good Image Stabilization
- Good in Low Light
- Great Picture Quality

Really good camcorder that fits my needs during editing but it is a bit too pricey for the quality pictorial then I have other cameras in the 5-8k class that performs better. However, very smooth with microphone inputs and sits like a glove in his hand.

The best camera I have ever used.
We use this camera for our church events, services and praise and worship. This is the most professional camera we have used to day. It is perfect for tripod use for services and during outside events running around.
