Canon TS-E 17mm f/4 L

4.8
Verdict: The Canon TS-E 17mm f/4 L is an amazing lens although beginners will struggle to master its possibilities at once. When using the lens based on conventional settings it behaves pretty much like a normal ultra-wide prime lens.

Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L Tilt-Shift Lens Review

Verdict: The Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L Tilt-Shift Lens is, at review time, the widest tilt-shift SLR lens made . It is also one of the highest quality (both optically and physically) 17mm lenses made.

Awesome lens

5.0
Verdict: This lens is an absolute must-have for shooting architecture. I use it about 85% of the time. Sure it distorts, but there are ways to deal with it and make it work, make it beautiful and dramatic.

Parfait sauf...

5.0

Simply Amazing

5.0
Verdict: This lens is technically flawless and simply amazing. I shoot landscape and architectural photography. This lens handles both so well. Of course, it's main application will be architectural photography.

5.0
Pros: Sharp, sharp, sharp with a world of creative possibilities, Only lens capable of changing perspective and depth of focus in the same aperture, Shifting and stitching can make pictures as wide as 11mm equivalent without fisheye effect, Easy to focus in manual mode (do not have auto mode
Cons: Expensive, and not easy to operate in tilt and shift mode, Camera exposure metering will not work in shift and tilt modes, Front element VERY exposed... take much care, Do not accept front filters
Verdict: This lens can do lots of things that others dont. Amazing for landscape, architecture and panorama. But its not a lens for beginners, changing the perspective, controlling light, focus depth all hand holding requires some training.

I love this lens and bought it for Real Estate photography

5.0
Verdict: I love this lens and bought it for Real Estate photography. I debated between this and the TSE-24. If I had it to do again I would buy the TSE-24 and use my Tokina 16-28 when I needed to go wider. From what I have seen and read the TSE-24 is simply amazing.

Excellent specialty lens

5.0
Pros: does things ordinary lenses can't
Cons: not for beginners
Verdict: This is Canon's widest tilt-shift lens, and therefore a great choice for architectural photography. You can use it to keep parallel lines parallel. You can also do the opposite: exaggerate the apparent convergence, to emphasize the height of a tall building, say.

Parallel verticals and stuff

5.0
Pros: Beautiful Images, there is nothing quite like it in a tight spot
Cons: can foul a pop-up flash, Expensive, It is heavy, needs a tripod, No autofocus
Verdict: I have had a 24 TS-E mark 1 for a year or two and found it very useful for architecture indoors and out.
But it was never quite wide enough, I quite often used my 14mm Canon instead in portrait mode and threw away the massive unwanted foregrounds.

Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L review by marde

Pros: The best wide angle lens ever
Cons: ???
Verdict: Still on discovering phase (Three month use). The full manual operation is part of the "personality" you have to deal with. Shift option makes easy panoramas. The quality of the picture is the reward of time spent for composition and setup.
