Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 Review

The Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 is a small and light Canon wireless slave flash controller and focus assist device. Need to trigger slave (remote) Canon Speedlite Flashes? Good, Basic

This is a good basic optical transmitter. It does everything you would expect EXCEPT it does not have group C. If that matters, then this will not fit the bill. There is no earthly reason why Canon should have left that out - more the pity because otherwise this is a great little device.

Makes off camera flash much less complex.

ETTL off camera is very easy with the ST-E2. flash exposure compensation works well and multiple speedlight control is much easier to implement. Was unaware that a battery was not included. Local camera store had one.

Canon ST-E2 Speedlite Transmitter review by gadgetguy

Works excellently as part of Canon's wireless flash system, providing consistent results. It does go through batteries pretty fast (and they're not cheap) so it would be nice to have it use reachrgeable ones.

it works as advertised; can be used as AF assist

uses expensive batteries

Great bit of kit.

My 580 EX 11 flash sits on top of a boom pole operated by my assistant ..... great for off-camera flash. Only problem is... it requires two people, ( but it's worth it ).

Consistent; Easy Setup; Lightweight; Reliable
