PowerShot SX260HS Fails

I bought my SX260HS camera on January 11, 2013 looking forward to taking many pics of my grandkids in an upcoming visit. I practiced with movies, snapshots, etc until I felt comfortable. Then, just 7 days later, on Jan 18, I opened the camera to take some more practice pics.

Sadly Disappointed

Despite the glowing reviews by camera websites and users, I was sadly disappointed by the very soft pictures; my 5 yr old Panasonic was much sharper. Fortunately I was able to exchange it at BB.
