Canon PowerShot S100 review
The compact camera market has never been so vibrant, with compact system cameras (CSCs) from all the big manufacturers battling it out for pole position. All, that is, except Canon.

Canon PowerShot S100 GPS compact camera
As the latest incarnation of Canon's highly-regarded PowerShot S range of enthusiast-grade compact cameras, the new PowerShot S100 has a lot to live up to.

Canon PowerShot S100
This little black offering fits into the smallest pocket but can take HD video as well as rather nice still images. Even if you have a larger and more powerful unit, this can be ready even before that comes from the bag.

Very compact versatile camera
Excellent camera and small enough to always have on me. However because it is so small it is sometimes awkward to hold and I find myself putting my finger on the flash when it pops up. Sharp, fast lens. Keep a spare battery, it does drain quickly.
Pros:
- Easy To Use
- Fast/accurate auto-focus
- Good Image Quality
- Good Image Stabilization
- Good in Low Light
- Large Clear LCD
- Short Lag Time
- Small / Compact
Cons:
- Short Battery Life

Good One
It is a better camera than a regular point and shoot, but costs more and is worth more. Just if you have the money to spend, I would recommend to friends.
Pros:
- This has the larger sensor than the run of the mill point and shoot Canons
- I have used my G9, which uses a similar sized sensor, for about four years and it is great for portraits and snapshots as well as panaramas.
Cons:
- It is small and you might lose it, whereas a big DSLR is never to be lost in its big bag and all the lenses
- I really can't think of a reason to buy a big camera, unless you need to take professional pictures of highest possible quality, which most family pics are not

Oldie but a goodie
This is my second S100. The first got washed with my hoodie because I forgot it was in the pocket. The perfect "the camera you have". This was bought as an interim camera but I will keep it as a carry around. Solid build. Pretty good ergo. You can get third party grips etc.
Pros:
- Easy To Use
- Fast/accurate auto-focus
- Good Image Quality
- Good Image Stabilization
- Good in Low Light
- Small / Compact
- Solid
Cons:
- No Viewfinder

Disappointed.
Camera stopped working shortly after purchase. I was in a hot and humid climate on vacation and that is the only reason I can think for why it stopped functioning properly, but regardless it should not be an issue. Disappointed.

Canon PowerShot S100 review
There are now two cameras at the top of the point-and-shoot market, and Canon makes both of them. The S95 gets a slight edge in terms of image quality, but the S100's wider lens, faster performance, and video recording are all solid tweaks on top of the S95.
Pros:
- Fantastic image quality
- Fast performance
- Tons of manual controls
- Upgraded internals from the S95
Cons:
- Expensive
- Images are slightly inferior to the S95
- Relatively short battery life

Canon PowerShot S100
Canon has taken one of its most successful digicams, the PowerShot S95, and upgraded it with a new sensor and image processor, longer zoom lens and better ergonomics to produce the PowerShot S100.
