Excellent product. Rewarding to use.

I bought this product as a backup to my SLR kit and for good quality images when it is difficult to use an SLR. I have nightmares of walking to remote places only to find my camera has failed, my battery and backup are depleted etc. It happens occasionally. This camera is pretty small.

Bright LCD; Comfortable Controls; Easy Setup; Easy To Use; Great Picture Quality; Strong Construction

I spent a couple of hours trying to work out how the pop-up flash worked. Then asked Canon and it appears that you need to take of the hot-shoe protector. With the plastic hot-shoe protector on, the camera thinks you are using an external flash and disables the on-board pop-up flash.

great quality compact; Viewfinder; Robust.

great camera

Many "professional" reviews compare this camera to similar "large sensor" cameras and conclude that the large sensor cameras "win" - but you should ignore those reviews. The optics on this camera blow away the competition - there is no 5x zoom point-and-shoot camera with an F2.8 lens at maximum...

good battery life; Good Low-Light Performance; Nice features/settings; excellent image quality; durable; Bright LCD; Lightweight/Portable; Simple controls/menu; easy to use; two custom settings; separate flash on/off control

Canon PowerShot G15 review

A good way to think of of Canon's PowerShot G15 is like an EOS digital SLR without a lens mount. It sports a similar rock-solid build – here aluminium – and control layout to an EOS camera, but is of course more compact.

Built-to-last aluminium construction; Solid feature set; Optical viewfinder; 5x optical zoom usable during capture of video and stills; Manual top plate dials; Pop-up flash

LCD screen is fixed; Bulky; Pricey given that a digital SLR could be bought for the same price

Canon PowerShot G15 review

The G15 will appeal most greatly to existing DSLR owners looking for a smaller backup for those shoot-from-the-hip photo opportunities. Read our Canon PowerShot G15 review to find out more.

Just wish it had a bigger sensor

Love this as a "carry around."
Sturdy build, nice screen, wonderful, fast 1.8 lens.
I just wish it had a larger sensor, but I'm guessing if it did Canon would be selling less G1Xes.

Fast/accurate auto-focus; Fast lens; Good in Low Light; Has a viewfinder; Nice Body Color; Short Lag Time; Small / Compact

Small Sensor

Canon PowerShot G15

DPReview.com doesn't try it with the G15, but when they try it with the pricier Canon PowerShot G1 X (*Est. $750) , the software leaves seams, stitching errors and a bent horizon. Like others in its class, the Canon G15 has a USB port to hook up to a computer and an HDMI port to attach to an HDTV.

Outstanding photos; even in low light; Snappy performance and great handling; Rock-solid build; Big-camera features like a viewfinder and hot shoe; Fits into a jacket pocket

Video mode offers little manual control; No in-camera panorama

Great Mid Sized Camera

I like this camera because it's familiar to my DSLR's from canon, is rather effective in low light conditions, maintains good battery life and also contains many options like panoramic mode and high frame capture mode.

High frame rate capture in good light Great handling of low light conditions Much lighter than a DSLR; heavier than a point & shoot Plenty of manual override options Great auto options Panoramix mode Good/excellent battery life Scene modes are helpful and easy if you've owned canon cameras before...

Slower then desired zoom in / out mechanism (same speed as point & shoot) Would be nice to have more lens options Would have been better if it shipped with a memory card

Canon PowerShot G15

The Canon PowerShot G15 the newest addition to the G series of Canon, is an advanced point and shoot camera that is just full of surprises. It improves on many things when compared to the G12, at least on paper and we wonder if that actually translates into any real world performance.

Fast f/1.8-2.8 lens; Fast and accurate AF system reminiscent of Canon DSLRs; 1 cm minimum focussing distance for macro shots

Bulky design; Small 1/1.7-inch sensor; No bendable flash
