This is a sweet deal. I don't bring my expensive camera with my on vacation. I don't want to worry about the salt water and sand damaging my DSLR or my lenses. I used a waterproof point and shoot last year on vacation and the pictures and underwater video turned out amazing clear and stunning.

"Great camera"

This camera is well build, with good quality. Has good composite materials, and the rubber makes it suitable in both wet and cold weather conditions. The buttons are well positioned, and the menus are intuitive.

82 feet deep without bulky cases ; A diver's dream ; Long battery life ; Great underwater video

Bigger than my previous cameras

Good colour and exposure; 1080p video with sound and zoom; 1cm macro mode; 3inch screen; 28-140mm equivalent lens; Waterproof to 25 metres; Continuous shooting never slows down

Images could be sharper and more detailed; Only 24fps when recording 1080p video; Slow maximum continuous shooting speed; Lacks panoramic mode

Canon PowerShot D30 Review

This is one of the most rugged cameras in our comparison, and it takes good quality underwater pictures.

This camera can dip down to 82 feet under water

It comes with a 12.1-megapixel image sensor; which is below the 16 megapixels most waterproof cameras have

versatile canon powershot d30

Incredible versatility. Took it on our family vacation to Grand Cayman because I am tired of lugging around my Canon 60D with two lenses, and I also wanted a camera for underwater. Land shots are very good, though I did not shoot any macro shots of lizards, fish or flowers.

Overall versatility; including good land shots; decent underwater shots; great depth tolerance; and decent video capabilities

None that I can think of

Canon D 30

This camera rocks! For those of us who've invested thousands of dollars in top quality lenses and realize that the "glass" determines the picture quality, the first couple generations of digital cameras were a joke. A $50 dollar lense on a $1500 camera won't cut it.

Ability to use pro lenses from EOS line

Auto focus a bit slow; takes getting used to

Great

I love this camera and have no problems! Took it to Europe and worked amazingly! Take the battery out to safe on charging it. I only had to charge the battery twice while I was there
