Canon PowerShot D30 Review

With a smooth, rounded body that looks a bit like a worn sea pebble, and with 150-feet of water resistance, Canon's 12-megapixel PowerShot D30 feels just as home below the waves as it does above them.

150-foot water resistance; Compact design; Secure; but easy-to-open watertight seals

Limited feature set; Mediocre image quality; No micro USB charging

The D30 is still going strong

Update to my previous review. We have taken this camera on three more dive trips and it is still going strong. The secret is to white balance while pointing at the sand or other white object at each depth of 10 or 15 feet.

I had this camera just 2 years before it sprung ...

I had this camera just 2 years before it sprung a leak. It works but it's point & shoot guessing because of no view. I just used it for snorkeling & not diving. (I don't dive) I was very careful with it. I won't buy another Canon underwater camera

So far so good

I had a Canon D-10, which was great! I'm an advid fly fisherman, and take my camera with me all the time. I dropped my D-10 and cracked the viewing screen. My boys got me this one for my birthday.

The Canon EOS D30 Digital SLR

When they first arrived on the scene digital SLRs were well beyond the means of all but the well heeled. News organizations, sports photojournalists, government photographers, and the corporate world were the first to take advantage of the new tech...

Canon PowerShot D30 review

The Canon PowerShot D30 is an update to the more than two-year-old PowerShot D20 and as such you might expect a number of significant changes and improvements. The D30 certainly looks different, but below the surface not a great deal has changed.

Water-proof to 25 metres; 1cm macro close focus; Adjustable wrist strap

No 60p video modes; No HD slow motion modes; Mono mic; Small f3.9 maximum aperture; Slow continuous shooting; Spongy shutter release

It's waterproof down to 25m, shockproof to drops of 2m, and freezeproof to -10°C. The camera's lens has a 28-140mm equivalent focal length, and a maximum aperture range of f/3.9-4.8.

Canon Powershot 12.1 Megapixel Digital Camera

I love to take pictures and getting a digital camera seemed like the right way to go. I wouldn't have to worry about film or getting it developed. I went to Best Buy and found the Canon Powershot 12.1 Megapixel Digital Camera. I paid $149.99 for the camera .

Rugged Canon PowerShot D30 takes the deepest dive

How deep do you need to dive with your waterproof point-and-shoot?

If you're looking for a camera that can dive underwater beyond 50 feet without a housing, Canon has something to show you.
