Canon is a huge name in camera tech! And this little digital wonder will not dissapoint. Fantastic value for money, this camera offers 10 mega pixels with 3 x optical zoom and video capture too! (The video is quite high quality and long capturing).

While it may be a very basic point-and-shoot compact , Canon's PowerShot A490 can take clear and vibrant photos that are very impressive considering its low price. It's the perfect camera to consider if you're on a budget but want to capture great quality images.
Pros:
- Good clarity and colours for such an inexpensive camera
- good battery life using AAs
- improved button layout over the PowerShot A480
Cons:
- Shutter button doesn't have a distinct two-step feel
- highlights were overexposed

Everything was as listed, no suprises. It was 10.00 cheaper here than anywhere else. Works perfertly. Used for work and is dependable.

birthday gift for a young photographer
I gave this as a birthday gift to my grandson. It was good value being a little outdated so the price was half what it was a while back. It's simple enough to encourage him to learn how to take good photos, and the results are pleasing.
