I bought this to assist with my new venture into macro-photography and focus stacking. It works very, very well. My only suggestion would be for the pre-light to stay on longer. I am not the speediest person when it comes to focusing on very small objects.

I'm an orthodontist so I need to take a lot of clinical photos. I was trudging along with a cheap Chinese made $40 ring light from Amazon. It was better than a pop up flash but nowhere near strong enough to be able to shoot at the required F-stop for crisp shots with appropriate depth of field.

If you are a macro photographer this flash unit is for you. It provides a beautiful shadowless soft light that will reveal all the detail in your subject whether it is a flower, insect or jewellery.

Macro photography is great fun and amazing macro photos are not difficult to capture, but adequately lighting a very close subject and preventing camera and/or subject motion blur are two of macro photography's biggest challenges.

I had the previous version of this flash, it always worked fine and produced nice results. So when I needed a second one I naturally went with what has worked for me in the past.
