Canon EOS M6

Canon have produced a highly functional camera in the new EOS M6. This entry level camera will take amazing pictures despite its non-extravagant look. It’s small, light (weighing in at a mere 390g) and is perfect for traveling, hiking and other slow-paced adventure sports. Here are some specifications to help you decide whether this is the camera for you.

The first feature worth mentioning is the 24.2MP function this camera delivers. The camera may not be the most glamorous, but the image quality is hard to beat for such an entry level device. The Canon EOS M6 also has a video recording capability, and your videos will reach up to 60p in full HD (7 frames per second).

To further assist the quality of your photos, anti-shaking software has been installed courtesy of 5-Axis Digital IS. You’ll also be happy to learn that Dual Pixel CMOS AF also forms part of your camera to ensure quick response on photos, and smooth recording for videos. Finally, there is also a built-in low-pass filter which will help you do some basic editing before you even move images to another device!

This camera also boasts WiFi & Bluetooth functions for easy sharing of your images. If you’re part of a community of photographers who come together to share, then this camera will serve you well in building photographer relationships.

I have a Canon 5D4, which is a great camera. The main reason for me to also own an M-series is the small size. I want a camera that gives me great image quality, low-light response, speed, and the ability to use all of my lenses when needed, all in a small enough package that I can throw in a...

Canon EOS M6 : A fine compact CSC

Classy and compact, the Canon EOS M6 is a solid choice but it’s not cheap.

Superb image quality; Small and stylish; Lots of tactile controls;

Expensive; No 4K video;

If this camera had had the same sensor as the Canon 6D, prime lenses, and better autofocus, I would've easily given it five stars. But oddly enough, it has more megapixels than the 6D and not as great as an output as that camera despite being a significantly newer sensor.

Canon EOS M6 Review

Canon announced the EOS M6 back in February 2017 and it's now available in the Philippines this month. It's actually a quick follow-up to the Canon EOS M5 that was announced in September 2016 and released in the Philippines around December 2016.

More affordable than the M5; Good build quality; Dual-pixel autofocus; Great picture quality; WiFi and Bluetooth support

No 4K video recording

The perfect pocket camera

This is a great camera from Canon. It feels comfortable and well balanced in the hand. The rear touch screen is detailed, large and easy to use. It also tilts 45 degrees which I also found really useful.

Canon EOS M6

Canon's current generation of mirrorless cameras deliver serious improvements compared with earlier efforts, but they still have some room for improvement. The EOS M6 is solidly built and compact, with appropriately sized lenses to go along with it.

24MP image sensor; 9.1fps burst capture; Tilting touch LCD; Wi-Fi; Compact; Add-on EVF available

Video tops out at 1080p; Focus can struggle in dim light

Canon EOS M6 Review

We called the EOS M5 the best mirrorless camera that Canon had made yet when we reviewed it earlier this year. The M6 ($779, body only) is, from a technical perspective, the same camera as the M5, minus the integrated viewfinder. It's a bit smaller all around and $200 less expensive, which makes it a bit more appealing for casual photographers who prefer to use the rear LCD to frame up shots. The M5 and M6 represent a big move forward for Canon in the mirrorless space, but there's still some room for improvement, especially with autofocus in dim conditions. Our favorite entry-level mirrorless camera is still the Sony a6000—it's compact, has a built-in EVF, and it costs less. Design The EOS M6 ($679.00 at Amazon) measures 2.7 by 4.4 by 1.8 inches (HWD) and weighs 13.8 ounces without a lens attached. It's smaller than the M5, which measures 3.5 by 4.6 by 2.4 inches and 15.1 ounces. We received the camera in black for review, although I'd say the top plate is closer to a metallic gra...

Canon's mirrorless cameras are getting better, but the EOS M6 still can't quite measure up to some competitors.

The Canon EOS M6 was enjoyable to take out for a few days of shooting, and its image quality is plenty good enough for everyday photography needs. As is typical with Canon's mirrorless cameras, the image quality in the M6 is really good, with realistic colors and just the right contrast level.

Canon EOS M6 review: Canon's best mirrorless yet, but is that good enough?

The Canon take on the mirrorless camera market has been interesting: having lackadaisically introduced the M-series system in a bid to avoid undercutting its own DSLR business, it had taken Canon years to establish a more viable M-series camera. That happened in 2016 with the EOS M5 .

Small scale; good build quality; capable autofocus; decent tilt-angle touchscreen control along with physical dials

Expensive without bettering the competition; lacks autofocus finery like its nearest competition; no 4K video smarts

If size is an ultimate priority, the M6 is a promising and powerful backup or second body for the established Canon shooter. It's the company's smallest camera to feature its latest 24MP APS-C sensor with Dual Pixel AF, the controls and touchscreen interface are a joy and many smaller EF (and -S)...
