Canon EOS M100 + 15-45/3.5-6.3 IS STM

Ease of operation is one of the key selling points of the Canon EOS M100, a fun, compact and mirrorless camera. Even though this is considered an entry-level model for those new to interchangeable-lens cameras, it boasts a lot of top-line features.

All-Inclusive Touch Screen

The ability to access all operations through the M100's full touchscreen interface is one of the big reasons why this model is the epitome of easiness. It's not just a touch screen - it's a 180-degree tilt screen too.

A Precise Approach To Focussing

It's just as easy to achieve a fast and precise focus, thanks to dual pixel CMOS AF, touted by Canon as their most advanced autofocus system.

An Upgraded Processor

As well as upgrading the sensor to 24.2-megapixels, up from 18-megapixels on previous models, Canon has introduced a new and improved image processor as well, for better overall performance and results.

Interchangeable Lens

Experimenting with a new lens from time to time is just part of a photographer's journey as they gain confidence. The M100 gives the user the chance to mix and match with a range of quality lens types - it takes Canon EF-M lenses, as well as EF and EF-S lenses.

A Colourful Canon

If you can change the lens, why not change the colour as well? The M100 gives the user a choice of nine different-coloured jackets to suit the user's individual preferences.

Canon EOS M100

Meet the Canon EOS M100. It's a new entry-level mirrorless camera in Canon's EOS M range, aimed squarely at those looking to find their first ‘proper' camera for better pictures. In form and function, the camera represents a logical upgrade from using a smart phone.

Canon EOS M100 review

The EOS M100 has been designed to be simple and unintimidating for novices and smartphone photographers, and it succeeds at that really well – but if you're looking for a camera that can grow with your technical skills you could soon find it frustrating.

Very good image quality; Super-simple for novices; Fast and responsive autofocus; Compact retracting kit lens

No viewfinder; Everyday adjustments fiddly; Full HD not 4K video; Not especially easy to grip

Canon EOS M100 Mirrorless Camera Review: Good For Novices

The 24-megapixel Canon EOS M100 mirrorless camera is made for novices who yearn to capture more professional-looking shots or video than they can using a smartphone or a point-and-shoot, but find most advanced cameras intimidating.

Variety of intuitive scene modes and settings; Lightweight and easy to use; Very good in low light and challenging lighting situations; Responsive swiveling touch-screen LCD; Relatively inexpensive

No electronic viewfinder; Lacks 4K video; No hot shoe for external flash; Smaller lens selection than what other mirrorless cameras offer

Canon EOS M100 review

The EOS M100 is Canon's smallest and cheapest mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, and is perfectly suited to its intended audience of smartphone users looking to step up their photography game. The touchscreen controls are polished and approachable, image quality is great, and the full auto mode works impressively well. Video and burst shooting specifications are behind the competition, but overall, the M100 is a solid camera that represents a great value in Canon's lineup.

First-time camera buyers and beginning photographers interested in general photography, travel photographers, anyone looking for a small camera with great image quality.;

Advanced photographers that want more direct control, video shooters that need a better feature set, and photographers that want to get into sports and action photography.;

Canon EOS M100

Canon has done a good job with the EOS M100. It doesn't sacrifice any image quality or focus speed compared with the higher-end models in the line. Instead, it focuses on making things easy and making the camera portable enough so that you won't mind taking it with you to events or on vacation.

Very compact; 24MP APS-C image sensor; Fast autofocus; 6.1fps burst shooting; Tilting touch LCD; Built-in flash; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

No EVF or mic input; Not a lot of native lenses available; Touch interface will turn off pros and shutterbugs; 1080p video feels dated

A bit of background, I have a Canon DSLR and its share of heavy lenses and was looking for a walk around camera without loosing too much quality. I also own a Sony a6500, which should have filled the bill, but luminous lenses arena€?t part of Sony APS-C lenses lineup, and third party lenses are big.

Good little camera

This is a good entry level camera. User friendly and compact. I was disappointed the screen had fingermarks on it, out of the box, indicating to me it had been handled before bought it, supposedly brand new when I purchased it online.

High Quality Canon Digital in a Small Package

Excellent compact version mirrorless version of a DSLR. Fully functioning as if a larger DSLR - which I understand it is based. Few external controls but all controls and settings can be accessed via the available buttons and touch screen.
