The ability to access all operations through the M100's full touchscreen interface is one of the big reasons why this model is the epitome of easiness. It's not just a touch screen - it's a 180-degree tilt screen too.
It's just as easy to achieve a fast and precise focus, thanks to dual pixel CMOS AF, touted by Canon as their most advanced autofocus system.
As well as upgrading the sensor to 24.2-megapixels, up from 18-megapixels on previous models, Canon has introduced a new and improved image processor as well, for better overall performance and results.
Experimenting with a new lens from time to time is just part of a photographer's journey as they gain confidence. The M100 gives the user the chance to mix and match with a range of quality lens types - it takes Canon EF-M lenses, as well as EF and EF-S lenses.
If you can change the lens, why not change the colour as well? The M100 gives the user a choice of nine different-coloured jackets to suit the user's individual preferences.

Damn those smartphones and their pesky cameras! With almost everyone having a decent snapper in their pocket these days, convincing people to upgrade to a 'real' camera is harder than ever for the likes of Canon.
Canon has been playing catch up in recent years since brands like Fujifilm and Sony have become competitive with their mirrorless cameras. Not to be outdone, Canon has been improving its mirrorless camera line, and the EOS M100 is a proof to Canon wanting to have a share in the mirrorless market.

Features are good and size is adequate
The Canon EOS M100 is a nice enough camera, but it fails to truly excite. If you’re using a smartphone and feel a little limited by what a small sensor can deliver, but don’t want the huge bulk of a DSLR or large CSC, the EOS M100 could still potentially be up your street. It produces very good images, and is very easy to use right out of the box without any kind of specialist knowledge - both of which are big plus points. That said, it’s still not small enough to slip into a pocket once you’ve attached even a small lens, so you’re still going to have the inconvenience of an extra device. You may also find that you relatively quickly outgrow the M100. After all, if you’re going to bother having an extra device with you, you might as well make it something that you really get involved with. With a lack of a viewfinder, a relatively stunted set of dials and buttons, and no 4K video shooting, you may find yourself quickly looking elsewhere for something a little more advanced.

The EOS M100 has been designed to be simple and unintimidating for novices and smartphone photographers, and it succeeds at that really well – but if you're looking for a camera that can grow with your technical skills you could soon find it frustrating.
