I put this in the same class as the original 7d. AF is iffy. Actually the 7D was pretty good. &D II is about the same. De-noise is easier, frame rate is better. If you can pick one up used and in good shape it is ok. I would never buy a new one.

Canon 7D MII DSLR Review: Superfast but Finicky

The Canon 7D Mark II is an incredibly powerful, exceptionally fast camera and the fastest remotely affordable DSLR on the market. However, its image quality is just below what you'd expect from this type of camera, and as a result, less-expensive cameras like the Canon 70D and recent high-end...
Pros:
  • Fastest autofocus and image processing of any APS-C DSLR camera we've evaluated
  • Fastest capture rate from any DSLR under $4,000
  • Translucent LCD overlays helpful information on optical preview
Cons:
  • Priced as high as some full-frame cameras
  • Video capability doesn't match that of lower-priced rivals
  • More noise in high-ISO/low-light conditions than from Canon's own, cheaper 70D

Canon EOS 7D Mark II Review

The Canon 7D Mark II offers good image quality, excellent performance and a solid design at a good price. It's a great option for budget-conscious photographers who are already invested in Canon's ecosystem of lenses and accessories.
Pros:
  • This camera has many more cross-type focus points than anything else we reviewed
Cons:
  • Low-light performance suffers as a result of this camera's small APS-C sensor

Outstanding APS-C sensor camera - especially for under $2000

It is clear Canon made a few sacrifices in order to get other features in the 7D Mark II. First, they still went with the APS-C crop sensor. It isn't horrible and saves a lot of money.
Pros:
  • Very fast burst mode
  • focusing is fantastic (especially auto focus tracking)
  • many options to custom tailor the camera to your needs
  • great high ISO
Cons:
  • No Wifi
  • No vertical holding mode without the battery grip
  • fixed LCD can be a bummer at times

Canon EOS 7D Mark II DSLR Review

Released in 2009, the original Canon EOS 7D has become a firm favourite APS-C Digital SLR, and impressively has lasted well for a 5 year old camera, a testament to how popular the camera is.

  • Tough weather-sealed magnesium alloy body
  • Quick live view shutter response and focus speeds
  • Dual axis electronic level
  • 65 cross-type AF points

  • GPS built-in,...
Cons:
  • High Price
  • Does not feature Wi-Fi
  • Images can appear soft straight from the camera
  • Separate port covers would be good to help weather sealing
  • Tilting screen would be a benefit for video
