Canon EOS 7D Review: Canon's Latest Camera Breaks New Ground in Canon DSLR Line

Canon's new camera is aimed at pros and serious amateurs. The Canon EOS 7D camera defines a new category for Canon not quite fitting in any of the camera maker's existing lines of cameras.

Fantastic Camera

I originally bought this camera for stills, but I eventually moved into film and now I use this camera 90% for filming. This camera has never failed me, battery life is great when taking photos. Only complaints I have would be that noise past 3200 makes the image unusable.

good battery life; quiet; Quick Start-up time; excellent image quality; Superior build quality; Bright LCD; Solid Operation; easy to use

noisy

Canon 7D – Review – 33

Tim Grey loves Canon's new dSLR but hankers after a full-frame sensor You'd need about eight frames per second to capture the rate of camera development. When you're choosing a new kit, you've either got to steel yourself for your new camera's almost instantaneous obsolescence, or be prepared to...

Superfast 8 frames per second shooting; Spiffy new AF system; Sterling HD video capabilities; Impressive ISO performance

1.6x magnification via crop sensor; Weird placement of AF button

Canon EOS 7D Review

Canon has long enjoyed incredible success in the enthusiast/semi-pro sector but in the last couple of years Nikon, with its D300 in particular, has become the brand of choice for many.

Canon EOS 7D Review

The Canon 7D has been built from the ground up with feedback from professional Canon users. With 18mp, HD video, 100% viewfinder, 8fps, 100-12,800 ISO, has this reinvention created what could be Canon's best ever camera? Our Canon EOS 7D review finds out...

Build quality; 8fps; viewfinder; focus speed; high ISO; image quality; video functions

Lots of menus; current high price; no second card slot

We could go on forever about the Canon EOS 7D's features and versatility, but suffice to say: if you're looking for a top class all-round performer and aren't too concerned with going full-frame, this is currently the best body around.

As soon as you pick it up, it's clear that the Canon EOS 7D means business; It's big, heavy, sturdy and packed with dials and buttons, For the well-versed in DSLR photography, the Canon EOS 7D is a dream to use.

It's certainly not a camera for the DSLR beginner, as the amount of manual options on offer will only serve to confuse; There is a fully auto mode, naturally, but why spend £1,250 on a DSLR and treat it like a point and shoot, We'd also have like to have seen a full frame option, especially at this...

Just SUPERB

Just GREAT. I'll agree with the extensive complimentary reviews here. I've had SLR cameras since 1973, all Nikon. They let me down, big time. I am now a total convert to Canon. Get one OR a 7D II -- It is all you could realistically EVER need, unless you are a collector or a maniac!
