Canon EOS 7D

In terms of its design, the EOS 7D is outwardly very similar to the full-frame Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Sharing almost exactly the same dimensions (148.2 x 110.7 x 73.5mm) and weight (820g), the 7D is a little smaller but 10g heavier than its big brother.

Canon EOS 7D Review

Canon has long enjoyed incredible success in the enthusiast/semi-pro sector but in the last couple of years Nikon, with its D300 in particular, has become the brand of choice for many.

Canon EOS 7D Review

At Rs. 85,000 the 7D is an attractive option for those looking for a high performance dSLR camera. Image quality is top notch, and if you want better, you need to look at a full frame. Noise is very well controlled for a crop sensor and the 7D is exceptionally sturdy.
Pros:
  • Very solidly built and nicely weather sealed
  • Very ergonomically positioned buttons and dials that are highly configurable
  • Highly intuitive interface and lots of customisable options
  • Fast
  • reliable AF system
  • Capable of excellent quality results across the board
  • and in a variety of shooting...
Cons:
  • ISO 6400 performance will not satisfy those used to full frames
  • Metering has issues with incandescent lighting
  • especially yellow lighting
  • though all dSLRs goof up here
  • and the 7D is better than many
  • Loss in finer detail and smearing of textures when shooting red subjects
  • particularly darker...

8fps pictures, 1080p HD video and interchangeable lenses make great features. Magnesium alloy casing is weatherproof and heavy, so it feels safe in your hand. Bad Points: The menus are a bit fiddly, this is the first time in a very long while I have read a manual!
Pros:
  • 18 MP sensor gives fantastic quality to your pictures
  • easy to blow up on posters and canvas

I've had this camera for a month now after having the 30D for the past 3 years and using a 5DMk2 for a few months. This camera is a perfect blend of the x0D series and xD series of cameras. If it were a full frame camera, it would definitely be a pro grade camera.
Pros:
  • Great picture and video quality
  • Build Quality is superb
  • Autofocusing
  • Great low-light performance at high ISO
  • Battery Life
Cons:
  • No dual CF slots
  • No 1D-level weather sealing
  • Incandescent WB preset still not close enough

Canon EOS 7D review by smithmaestro

After replacing my Canon 40D for this 7D, I was amazed at the feel and the image quality of my first picture. I have been using this more often... actually, all the time... ever since I bought it.
Pros:
  • Superb Magnesium Alloy body
  • weather sealed
  • great image quality
  • mounts EF-S and EF lenses
Cons:
  • Grainy at high ISO but not a big deal for me
