The Canon EOS 700D, like the 650D before it, is an excellent Digital SLR capable of producing excellent images, with good exposure, multiple options, including HDR, handheld night shot, 5fps continuous shooting, DIGIC 5 processor, and the Q. menu lets you change settings and options quickly.

  • Excellent noise performance up to ISO3200
  • Live view allows 5x and 10x magnification
  • Excellent image quality
  • Excellent colour reproduction
  • Excellent touch screen
  • Solid body with good handling
  • Playback image star ratings

Cons:
  • 18-55mm IS STM lens larger than previous model
  • Live view still slow with STM lens
  • The lens aberration correction feature slows continuous shooting

Canon EOS 700D review

The Canon EOS 700D isn't a major step up from the 650D, but it's definitely a very good camera. It's capable of capturing high quality images, it's relatively easy to use and it doesn't feel heavy in the hand, especially with the 18-55mm STM kit lens attached.

If you're looking for a simple digital SLR camera, perhaps even your first digital SLR camera, Canon's EOS 700D is ideal. It comes in a relatively small size, it has an easy control scheme, and it will allow you to take impressive photos from the get-go.

Cons:
  • Changing exposure can be a little cumbersome
  • No clear differentiators between the 650D and 700D
