Canon EOS 1100D

Verdict: Although the EOS 1100D looks and feels its budget price tag, it is a capable SLR that offers great photographic results.

Canon EOS Rebel T3 / 1100D Review

The Canon T3/1100D entered life as an entry-level DSLR with basic features including an entry-level basic feature that everyone can love - a low price . That feature, low price, is indeed the primary reason to buy this DSLR over the rest of the Canon EOS DSLRs - including the announced at the same...

Canon EOS Rebel T3 / 1100D

The EOS Rebel T3, or 1100D, is Canon's latest entry-level DSLR. Announced in February 2011, it comes no less than two and a half years after its predecessor, the EOS Rebel XS / 1000D; indeed it's such a long time in the digital camera industry, especially for Canon, that many wondered if the company...

Good image quality that's similar to modern 14 Mpixel rivals; Quick and easy access to many settings; Live View and HD video recording (albeit at 720p only); Supplied with decent RAW and remote control software

Plasticky body with no rubber surfaces - feels cheap, Continuous shooting buffer small; Slows down for RAW, Relatively small 2.7in screen, Weaker popup flash than many rivals

Canon EOS Rebel T3 Review

The Canon EOS Rebel T3 is a mixed bag. In cameras, you really do get what you pay for. The T3 doesn't deliver what it should, even for the low price.

Responsive; good quality 12.2-megapixel DSLR; 720p HD Videos at 30 fps; 3fps burst mode

No front AF Assist lamp (uses built-in flash; Images not super sharp; Awkward control placement

Canon EOS 1100D

As the entry point to Canon's DSLR range, the 1100D sits below the older yet still available 550D and the more recent 600D as a sort of bare-bones version of these more advanced entry-level models.

Image quality; Relatively user-friendly; Cheapest entry-point to Canon DSLR system

Plastic finish feels a bit cheap; No rubberisation on grip; Contrast-detect live view AF is slow

Canon has hit a home run with their Canon EOS Rebel T3. The most affordable dSLR in their ranks, the T3 offers outstanding performance, ergonomics, and image quality for a price that is hard to beat by its competition. We here at Steve's give the T3 a huge "thumbs up"!

Lightweight and compact body available in four colors; Black, Red, Metalic Gray, and Brown, Loads of useful exposure options for Any user, Image quality is excellent, both indoors and out, Flash button in comfortable location, Button customization for various controls; like the flash and Set buttons...

No full HD video mode; Exposure can be a bit strong at times when shooting in the automatic exposure modes in bright sunlight; No rubberized grip like the T3i; LCD is a bit small (2.7-inches); but usable; Live View shooting performance is still quite sluggish; Autofocus during Live View is very...

Canon EOS 1100D review

A cheap and cheerful entry-level snapper but its competitors could serve you better

Quality shines through in stills; Light and portable

Compacts do more with less; Slow; noisy autofocus in video

Canon T3 Digital Camera Review

Spiritual successor to the Rebel XS line, minus many features of other Canon DSLRs

Good color accuracy for the price; Excellent noise performance

Not a huge array of manual controls; Upgrade from the kit lens ASAP

Nice photos, but I had to buy a UV lens (about $22) as camera couldn't cope with bright sunlight on auto. The UV lens is a great idea anyway as protection for the real lens, as it screws on the front. The movie function does not automatically focus.
