Great camera for the price

This camera is a Great value for the price. The only downfall is that this camera has no self cleaning, which isn't a huge deal.overall recommended to anyone looking for a quality entry level DSLR.

We purchased this camera for our teenage daughter who wanted to move beyond a point and shoot camera. Purchasing a DSLR camera can be a daunting experience, but the staff at Henry's (Orleans) were amazing.

Canon EOS 1100D

The EOS 1100D steps into Canon's DSLR line-up between the EOS 1000D and EOS 550D and features a 12.2 megapixel CMOS sensor. Offered for the first time in three colours - Black, Metallic Grey and a limited edition Red - the EOS 1100D supports 720p HD video recording and introduces a new Feature Guide...

You're looking for a keenly-priced entry-level DSLR camera with most of the sophisticated functions provided by pro-sumer level models; You want excellent performance in all kinds of lighting; including high resolution and low noise levels at high ISO settings; You'd like the ability to shoot 720p

You require high burst speeds and buffer capacity; You require a more robustly built camera

Canon EOS 1100D

The Canon 1100D offers a good shooting experience for a great price, with enough features and functions to satisfy SLR beginners. Compared to the competition though, the 1100D falls behind the pack in terms of top-line specifications and overall build quality.

Comes in a range of colours; Bracketing; Great image quality on default settings

Can feel a little plastic-y compared to other entry-level cameras; Only a 2.7-inch LCD screen; No AF lock button; No external microphone input

Canon's EOS 1100D enters the market as a stripped down version of its more expensive siblings, the 550D and 600D. Banking on its genetic lineage, it hopes to stand on its own with less perks and a matching lower price tag.

: Image quality; Relatively user-friendly; Cheapest entry-point to Canon DSLR system : Plastic finish feels a bit cheap; No rubberisation on grip; Contrast-detect live view AF is slow

Great choice for first DSLR

I found this camera a great entry level SLR. I found it to be compact with simple, easy to use controls. It takes great quality photos and I like the fact that it also offered video recording.

Good battery life; Nice features/settings; Quick Start-up time; Excellent image quality; Superior build quality; Solid Operation; Simple controls/menu; Easy to use

Good entry level DSLR

We were worried this camera would be to complicated and we would not be able to get decent pictures, we started out using the auto settings and then experimented from there, our only regret is we did not buy one sooner when our kids were younger.

Amazing!

This camera isn't very sensitive to shaking, which is good because my hands are the exact opposite of steady! Both lenses perform brilliantly and battery life is pretty good. And it's a good price for amateur photographers/film makers!
