A Great Camera For The Price
I bought mine in March of 2010. First of I paid $699.00 for mine. But, It has been fun learning all the features of this camera. It takes great pictures, even with an idiot like me behind it. With image stabilizer, automatic focus, it's kind of hard to mess up.
Pros:
- Well built
- Not heavy or bulky for a Digital SLR camera.
Cons:
- None

"The Canon EOS 1000D is for ameteurs."
I bought the Canon EOS 1000D almost two years ago, and I love it. Well, I loved it until recently. Nothing has gone wrong with the camera, but I have started wanted more professional looking shots, and in my opinion the Canon EOS 1000D is giving 'good' shots. Nothing better than good.
Pros:
- Fairly cheap
- light weight
Cons:
- auto focus speed
- action shot quality

Canon EOS 1000D
Review Canon has left no corner of the saturated DSLR market untouched, which certainly has a knock-on effect for potential buyers of the 10.1Mp EOS 1000D. While its 2.5in LCD screen feels cramped by modern standards, and its all-plastic construction does make it feel cheap compared to the Nikon...

Canon EOS 1000D
All of which leads us to two burning questions: is it worth the extra bucks for the 450D over the 1000D? And how does the 1000D stack up overall compared with its sub-AU$1,000 competitors?
Pros:
- Excellent photo quality for its class
- Solid performance
Cons:
- Maximum ISO of 1600
- No spot meter
- Annoying, in-viewfinder, focus-point display

Canon EOS Rebel XS 1000D review by mohitkrishna
Canon 1000D is one of the best DSLR camera available. It gives a splendid shot almost every time and its this that really matters. Canon 1000D is a 10.1 MegaPixel DSLR. Its salient features include Digic III processor (Canon trademark), all shooting modes like Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Close-up,...
Pros:
- It gives a splendid shot almost every time
Cons:
- None
- more AF points would have been a plus

Happy with it
Bought a Sigma 18-50mm and 55-200mm lens kit and I really like that too. I've been told that unless you're doing architectural photography the difference between them and Canon lenses are minimal. Got the camera with a great package deal from Newegg (Case, HD, SD Card, etc)
Pros:
- Great camera, my first DSLR and I must say I love the picture quality
- I am new to photography but am quickly learning
- Take time to learn the features and how lenses, filters and other accessories can make the shot even better
Cons:
- None for me
- I like the t1i features, but this fits the bill right now

Canon EOS 1000D With 18-55mm Lens Kit...
Note that this is a scaled down camera for the person with less money so don't try and compare it to a 500D or similar cameras. It does perform surprisingly well though.
Pros:
- Excellent battery life Compatibility with EF & EF-S lenses Digic3 Image processor Added image stabiliser to kit lense
Cons:
- Slow shutter turnaround (Not good for action photography) Uses SDHC cards

just what I wanted
I use this camera for taking product shots for my business as well as for personal photos and it works great for both. The battery life is excellent compared to past cameras I have owned. The included lens does well with close ups and distance shots.
