Great deal!
This camera is very light weight for its size. I use this camera to photograph my artwork. I work in mixed media so the SLR aspects of the camera appeal to me. It seems somewhat intimidating to learn how all the functions work.
Pros:
- Bright LCD
- Great Image Quality
- Image Stabilization
Cons:
- Click in bad location
- Poor In Low Light

The Canon EOS Rebel XS is the manufacturer's cheapest DSLR camera, and it is very much aimed as a "first DSLR " camera for photographers looking to advance beyond the typical point and shoot.

The latest D-SLR from Canon, the EOS 1000D, represents a new line in Canon's D-SLR range, hence the breakaway from the usual three-digit naming convention. The EOS 1000D is intended to build upon the success of the EOS 400D and, although Canon is keen to stress the 1000D isn't a direct replacement...

Canon EOS 1000D review
Canon's latest foray into the entry-level digital SLR market has resulted in the 10-megapixel EOS 1000D, based on the earlier EOS 400D. While the new EOS shares some of that model's features and looks, such as a similar resolution sensor with auto-cleaning, it also inherits the mid-range EOS 450D's...
Pros:
- Excellent picture quality
- small, lightweight body with good handling
- effective sensor cleaning and anti-shake (IS) zoom lens
Cons:
- Seven-point AF system
- erratic
- small viewfinder image and sluggish Raw-capture burst rate
- part-plastic body

Canon EOS 1000D DSLR camera
Canon's range of DLRs seem to have gone through something of a phase shift, moving the specs up the range and allowing Canon to create a new entry-level point for the new digital EOS 1000D, under the current EOS 450D.
Pros:
- Live View
- SD card compatibility
- great quality images
- focusing and colour
Cons:
- Live View feels like an after-thought
- price

Canon EOS 1000D review
Canon has been losing ground to arch rival Nikon of late when it comes to producing high-performance, good-value DSLRs. So will the budget-priced Canon EOS 1000D redress the balance?

"The Canon EOS 1000D is for ameteurs."
I bought the Canon EOS 1000D almost two years ago, and I love it. Well, I loved it until recently. Nothing has gone wrong with the camera, but I have started wanted more professional looking shots, and in my opinion the Canon EOS 1000D is giving 'good' shots. Nothing better than good.
Pros:
- Fairly cheap
- light weight
Cons:
- auto focus speed
- action shot quality

Canon EOS 1000D With 18-55mm Lens Kit...
Note that this is a scaled down camera for the person with less money so don't try and compare it to a 500D or similar cameras. It does perform surprisingly well though.
Pros:
- Excellent battery life Compatibility with EF & EF-S lenses Digic3 Image processor Added image stabiliser to kit lense
Cons:
- Slow shutter turnaround (Not good for action photography) Uses SDHC cards

just what I wanted
I use this camera for taking product shots for my business as well as for personal photos and it works great for both. The battery life is excellent compared to past cameras I have owned. The included lens does well with close ups and distance shots.
