Canon EOS 1000D review: Canon EOS 1000D

Canon's obviously decided the market for its amateur SLRs is big enough for two cameras, not one. The highly successful EOS 400D has made way for the slightly more upmarket EOS 450D and this £350 EOS 1000D. So what are we looking at here -- technical development or budget bargain-hunting?

I have just got my hands on a canon 1000d it has Lot's of features that i think you really don't need, the first accessory I had was a battery grip that enabled me to hold the camera with more comfort, my camera before this was a canon 300d, and I wish I had spent the money on a good quality lens for...

I Wish Was That It Should Have...

I bought this camera in 2010,when it was launched, and its been the best i could get in terms of quality and price. With a price tag of 25,000/- the camera kit comes with a detachable lens of 18-55mm ,and has the capability to be paired with other lenses too.

Canon EOS 1000D Review

Canon herald the EOS 1000D making digital SLR photography lighter and more affordable. The EOS 300D brought DSLR photography under £1000, so why shouldn't it work?
Pros:
  • Small and light
  • Easy to use
  • Live view
  • Excellent noise
Cons:
  • Grip material feels cheap
  • No wireless remote
  • No spot metering

Canon EOS 1000D digital SLR

A couple of weeks ago I reviewed the Canon EOS 450D , the latest in a successful line of consumer digital SLR cameras, and discovered that although it is a good camera it is too expensive to be considered an entry-level model.
Pros:
  • Live view
  • Lightweight
  • Speedy operation
  • Good high ISO performance
  • Good image quality
Cons:
  • Overpriced
  • Noticeably plastic build
  • Slow live view focussing
  • No video

Canon EOS 1000D

While expensive when compared to its rivals own versions, the 1000D is a well priced entry-point into Canon's own EOS range, and is certainly a good DSLR to start out with

The 1000D marks the introduction of a brand-new line of EOS models for Canon, coming in below the range that's culminated in the 450D. The body shape is slimmed down compared with the 450D and looks more like the old 350D, released in 2005 (web ID: 79985).

Canon EOS 1000D + 18-55mm IS lens

Want to move up in the world of digital cameras ? You need a Digital SLR my friend, and Canon offers up a top class beginner friendly model right here. Read on for the low-down…
Pros:
  • If you want to tick off features, Canon's entry-level EOS 1000D camera offers Live View, sensor cleaning (to avoid dusty spots on your images) and an impressive image stabilised 3x zoom lens
  • Image quality from the 10-megapixel chip is great, even in low light
Cons:
  • Build quality leaves a little to be desired and the 3 frames per second burst mode won't win any high-speed shooting mode award
  • Keen snappers might find the lack of a spot metering mode disappointing, too

Canon EOS 1000D review

Anyone choosing the Canon EOS 1000D as their first DSLR is best advised to opt for both camera and 18-55mm image stabilised zoom, as tested, for just £80 more than the body-only price. As typical with a DSLR you'll have to provide your own memory card.

Canon EOS Rebel XS

The Canon EOS Rebel XS costs $200 less than its Editors' Choice–winning sibling, the EOS Rebel XSi , but the only real differences are in its lower resolution and smaller LCD. Indeed, the XS takes beautiful photos, works quickly, and is easy to use.
Pros:
  • Very good image quality
  • Fast focusing and shot-to-shot speeds
  • Automatic sensor-cleaning system
  • Intuitive interface,
Cons:
  • Relatively small LCD
  • Fewer manual options than other entry-level DSLRs
  • Live View settings difficult to access
  • No ISO 3200,
