Canon EOS 1000D

T hough Canon does have a very strong foothold in the DSLR market in India, there has been a gap that Canon hadn't catered to yet - the ultra-budget DSLR segment. But the EOS seems more than a cut-short budget camera.

Canon EOS XS (Rebel XS, Canon 1000D)

Canon's new EOS Rebel XS is a new budget digital SLR designed to compete with Nikon's D60 and other sub-$700 digital SLR cameras by Pentax, Olympus, and Sony. Great deal!

This camera is very light weight for its size. I use this camera to photograph my artwork. I work in mixed media so the SLR aspects of the camera appeal to me. It seems somewhat intimidating to learn how all the functions work.
Pros:
  • Bright LCD
  • Great Image Quality
  • Image Stabilization
Cons:
  • Click in bad location
  • Poor In Low Light

I wanted a camera that is a bit more than one of my point and shoots due to picture quality and also to be able to take shots that I felt I sometimes was missing, such as my children who move quickly, but did not want to buy some expensive camera. The XS was perfect for me.
