Canon EOS 1000D

T hough Canon does have a very strong foothold in the DSLR market in India, there has been a gap that Canon hadn't catered to yet - the ultra-budget DSLR segment. But the EOS seems more than a cut-short budget camera.

Canon has recently revamped its SLR line-up with a new entry-level product, the EOS 1000D. Replacing the 400D at the bottom of its SLR range, this new product is yet to be given an official price. However, given the general cost structure of Canon's SLR line, it is sure to be quite affordable.
Pros:
  • Sharp pictures
  • fast operation
  • Live View
  • dust reduction
Cons:
  • Focus in live view still takes some time
  • menu can be unclear

Great for beginners

This is my first DSLR and I am in love! As a beginner who acme from crappy point and shoots and cell phone cameras this thing takes great pictures right out of the box. Even on full auto the XS will take better photos than P&S cameras.
