$25 bucks a month

I bought this to replace the kit lens (18-55) for my 450d, I also got to put my 28-75mm on the shelf. The focal range of this lens was the big attraction for me. I am happy with the look and feel of this lens, nice and tight, no creeping with camera down.

3 years no interest when I purchased it online

I purchased this lens for a trip to Yellowstone and it performed great! I got it refurbished from Canon. The zoom range is ideal for walk around.

Very Sharp; Good color and contrast; IS works great and AF is spot on

Wish it was 77mm instead of 72, so more of my filters would fit it; Price still a little high

Perfect Main Lens

I purchased my EOS 550D as a body only to use this as the primary lens (rather than the 18-55mm) and I have not regretted it at all. The extra width provides a better working space when taking group photos or need that little bit more of the landscape, as well as a decent amount of zoom that your...

IS cuts down on shots needing tripod

Using with a Canon 7D for wedding and event photography, it has great response and the IS makes it worth the money.

Fast / accurate auto-focus; Strong Construction

Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Review

With Image Stablisation, UD elements and an Ultrasonic Motor, is this feature-filled objective the perfect kit-lens replacement?

Excellent handling and IS system

Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Review

At a casual glance Canon's 15-85mm lens looks inferior to Nikon's 16-85mm in one important aspect: it has only a single-mode image stabilisation system against the Nikkor's dual-mode system.

Excellent handling and IS system

Drop-off in MTF curves

Best lens I own

This combo of 15 to 85 is great. It's only f 3.5 but what do you expect for a 15-85 with everything else? Manual focus is easy and slips once you hit the stops but you feel it.

15 to 85 is perfect for me; It's also macro up to 1.2'; Has IS (image stabilizer) and ultrasonic focus motor; AND it's a Canon lens which IMHO are great quality

It's a bit heavy for my T2i Canon body so the balance is a bit off but when I put it on my old 10D, it's nicely balanced; Cost as much as the T2i body; Not enough cons to loose an egg

Excellant walk around lens

Nice and sharp wide open at all focul lengths. IS works great. No problem for sharp pics at 1/13 a sec at 34mm on 7D.Mine is almost as sharp wide open as it is at F8. No decentering at all.

Lightweight; Durable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Consistent Output

Pricey

REVIEW: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

Lens oracle, Gary Wolstenholme examines the new 15-85mm IS USM lens from Canon. Canons' 15-85mm lens costs around £639 and is the natural replacement for their popular EF-S 17-85mm IS USM lens which can be had for around £380, due in part to this new lens becoming available.

Useful zoom range; Excellent sharpness at most apertures and focal lengths; Image Stabiliser; Good build quality

Distortion; Vignetting at 15mm; Flare and ghosting performance (no lens hood supplied
