This is a well-priced lense that according to online image samples is one of canon's best for portrait photography. It has imperceptible differences with the L-version, enough to make this lense well worth the price for quality and value for money. It's the cheapest @ kalahari.

It's one of the best lenses that I have bought. The picture comes out very sharp and crisp. Would definitely recommend this lens if you like to travel and visit new places this is a good basic lens that can help you get decent pics.

Lens is great and lives up to everything the reviews said. I thought long and hard about this lens compared with the 85 1.2 and in the end frugality won out. This lens is OUTSTANDING for the price. It's light, fast (fast focussing too) and produces great results.

Bought this Lens at the end of my canon rebel XSI's shooting days. Was put on my 7d mark i most of the time and gave good quality photos for portraits. Now with the 5d mark iii I feel it is being fully utilized.

For the price, you really can't do much better than this lens. Quality glass, 8 bladed aperture produces nice bokeh. Fast focusing. Although I've done portraits with this lens, I don't recommend it for close up work because of the f 1.8.
