This lens is exactly what I was expecting. The quality of the photos is excellent. The IS works as advertised. I highly reccomend it. If you can't afford Canon's L glass, try this one. It's light and compact, and makes a perfect walk-around lens.

The Canon 70-300mm zoom lens is a good lens. It works as it's advertised to. Canon quality can't be beat. It's light enough so you don't get tired carrying it around all day. I highly recommend it.
I have used this lens extensively over the past several years with 5D2 and 5D3 bodies. I am always amazed of the speed to focus and the beautiful image quality. It is a class act and fully lives up to it "L" pedigree. The only very minor negative is its weight which is slightly heavy.
excellent image quality; fast focus on a 5D3; built like a tank
slightly heavy
Updated from my 55-250, the quality of the pictures from this lens is so much better, highly reccomend.
Bought this lens to go on a Canon Eos 200D DSLR Camera. It is fast to focus and has a good zoom range (maybe not as far as others). The photos come out crisp and clear. Even though the lens does feel heavy, when you have it attached to your camera I didn't really notice it.
Purchased 70-300L for use on my 7D for daylight field sports, and most importantly, to carry while when traveling. Processed (in Lightroom & NIK Suite) images from the 7D + 70-300L compare very favorably with those from my 5D MkII + 70-200L MkII.
Compact; Light weight; Fast auto focus (with both full and panning modes); Full time manual focus; Very sharp images; Responds well to micro focus adjustment
Cost, but then again it has 'L' build quality and performance; Lens collar is both expensive and (currently) unavailable
Pin point focussing; Am in Costa Rica at the moment and couldn't be more pleased
Can't find anything bad to say
Well I have tried the lens out today after getting receipt this morning. Not for professional use perhaps but with image stabilisation and compact size. Great for zooming in on subjects and even good with macro use. Does what I need for now.
In September of 1995, Canon introduced a revolutionary new lens, the EF 75-300/4-5.6 IS USM. The revolutionary aspect of this lens was the incorporation of an optical image stabilizer system which allowed the lens to be hand held at shutter speeds two stops slower than could be done with a...
This long, Tele stabilized zoom replaces Canon's popular 75-300mm f/4-5.6 full-frame IS lens, the industry's first IS/VR lens, introduced in 1995. The new model delivers better image stabilization (to three stops instead of two) and a wider zoom range.
