As I got to shot pictures the first time with this lens, I felt that "High level" of this lens. It's really professional and very good in build quality and optical performance. But on my exemplar, the sharpness at 200mm just begins at f/5.6 and the "wow" effect of sharpness is at f/8.

I have had one for years and it is tough, super sharp, great close focus and should be a must for serious photographers who can't afford the image stabilised one.

Prior to owning this lens I did not realise it was possible for a lens to create sharp clear images at every aperture and zoom length. I chose this non IS version even though I could afford the IS version. Why? Because I use this lens primarily for shooting birds, animals and fast moving children.

This was my second L glass and I love it. Though my EF 24-70 f/2.8 lens does a really good job as an all-purpose lens, I always missed the reach of a tele zoom (for street & portrait photos). I almost put my trigger on the EF 70-200 f/4 L because of its high reputation and its attractive price.

I bought this on 3/22/19 and returned it on 4/2/19. I shoot bird pictures and them in flight and the Lens just did not make the mark for me. Most all my pictures were blurred, very poor quality. I shoot with the 70-300 f4-5.6 IS II USM, the pictures are very sharped.
