Excellent picture quality with my Canon EOS 70D.
Manufacturer: Canon
Excellent picture quality with my Canon EOS 70D.
Superb lens, the USM speed and clarity of snaps is just superb. You can get amazing portraits from a distance. It weighs a bit though and that makes it difficult, especially the non-IS version, to keep it steady in low light.
Not much to say other than It's an awesome lens. I use it for family portraits and for the kids sports events. Crisp clear pictures in low lights. It's my favorite lens.
It's great for portraits as well as sports events..
A bit heavy
Being priced at around £980, this older 70-200mm lens may lack stabilisation but does include weather sealing and fast, silent ultrasonic focusing at a much lower price, making it an interesting alternative for those on a tighter budget.
Good value; Excellent Build Quality; Very good sharpness in the centre of the frame; Fast focusing
Loss of sharpness towards the edges of the frame; Falloff of illumination towards the corners at 200mm
The Canon users have a really rich choice among the 70-200 mm class lenses. You can select from stabilized f/2.8 and f/4.0 versions, a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 in its third incarnation and a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 which is going to hit the shelves any time soon.
excellent image quality in the frame centre and at the edge; chromatic aberration well-controlled; negligible coma and distortion; slight vignetting on the APS-C sensor; low astigmatism; quick; silent and accurate autofocus; very solid casing; high build quality; rich accessory kit
weak work against bright light; high vignetting on full frame
Typical for most designated Canon L-grade (Luxury) lenses it provides an excellent build quality based on an tightly assembled metal body and smoothly operating zoom and focus control rings. The physical length remains constant regardless of the zoom or focus action.
This is my favorite lens for several reasons. It's my first 'Image Stabilization' lens and I wonder
Sharp, Fast, L glass, good build; Great all around pro lens
Big price jump compared to non-IS version
As I got to shot pictures the first time with this lens, I felt that "High level" of this lens. It's really professional and very good in build quality and optical performance. But on my exemplar, the sharpness at 200mm just begins at f/5.6 and the "wow" effect of sharpness is at f/8.
Already very sharp at f/3.2; excellent build quality; good handling
On my exemplar sharpness @200mm begin's at f/5.6
This was my first venture into L glass. I will never look back as the IQ between this lens and my Tamaron 28-270 is so unbelievable. FredMirand rates this lens very highly. No regrets what so ever.
IQ is out of this world; No real need to buy the IS version if you use mono/tri in low light; Ive shot all day long with it and had no problems
Its a bit heavy; But if you buy a decent camera strap and take the weight off your neck then it can be a carry all day
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Fast / accurate auto-focus
