The Canon users have a really rich choice among the 70-200 mm class lenses. You can select from stabilized f/2.8 and f/4.0 versions, a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 in its third incarnation and a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 which is going to hit the shelves any time soon.

Not much to say other than It's an awesome lens. I use it for family portraits and for the kids sports events. Crisp clear pictures in low lights. It's my favorite lens.

A bit heavy

Superb lens, the USM speed and clarity of snaps is just superb. You can get amazing portraits from a distance. It weighs a bit though and that makes it difficult, especially the non-IS version, to keep it steady in low light.

The Canon 70-200mm ƒ/2.8L USM performed very well in our tests, perhaps not as sharp as we'd like at 200mm and ƒ/2.8, but quite impressive at 70mm. CA tolerance is very good, distortion is low, and corner shading is very low. Build quality is very high, and autofocus performance is excellent.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM is one of the oldest pro-grade tele zoom in Canon's modern portfolio of lenses. The lens was released back in mid 1990s and as of today is still available in its original design.

This is definatly the best lens for the money! This lens produces amazing, crisp pictures. I the quality is unserpassed, but then again that is what you get when you go with the "L" series.

its way better to pay like a couple hundred more and getting this on over the 70-200mm f/4 because if you get the f/4 after a month you would regret buying it so i say go buy this one
