Autofocus Lens is a compact and portable macro lens meant to introduce novice photographers to close-up image-making. Its cost, design, and overall size all lead the tyro to comfortably accessorize their kit lens, and begin developing a library of optics for their camera.
This lens takes great portraits with its sharp image result at very affordable price. It (auto) focuses quite good for portrait but not macro. It's extremely light weight and it's build is good. Although the side of the lens has printed the word Macro, it cannot take true macro image.
Great lens for the money.
It is sharp, F4+ is really the sweet spot here. Wide open the photos are usable but some distortion occurs in lower light settings. I used this lens at the aquarium and got some very good and usable shots from 2.8-5.6.
Decent Focus; Low light; Portable; Sharp
Build Quality; Some Noise Wide Open
40mm might appear to be a bit of an odd focal length for a lens, but after spending a week with Canon's first pancake lens, it makes complete sense on our crop-factor EOS 60D.
This lens is a "always on the camera" lens - it's wide enough for taking pics of landscapes, groups of people and you can go rather close with it too - it's my new Allrounder --- on my 5DII I can work undercover because it is so so unspectacular - which works for me!
very compact - good usage for street photography - f 2.8 is fully usable but best results with f5.6; autofocus is quick, exact and nearly quiet
Build is far away from L but much better than the 1.8/50 II; so it's good enough for normal usage
The Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM represents a bit of a debatable concept on a DSLR - at least when compared to the much smaller mirrorless camera system. Honestly speaking there is also not really much of a size and weight advantage when thinking of its closest cousin - the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 - which is...
Handling and features The Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM is a slim, compact pancake type lens, which is compatible with Canon EF and EF-S camera bodies and costs around £230. A fast f/2.8 aperture should make this lens ideal for taking pictures in reasonably low light conditions and focusing is powered by...
I'm new to the land of DSLRs and this is the second lens I've bought for my T4i. I don't particularly like the autofocus on this lens. I don't use it often, but there have been a couple of times where I needed it and it was a bit too slow. Other than that, I think it's nice lens.
This is a brilliant lens that is wonderful to use out on the street due to its very low profile. When I take the battery pack off my 5D Mark III and replace my Canon "cannons" with this lens, I feel like I'm carrying a point and shoot!
Bright Image; Easy To Use; Quality Construction
