Can't afford the f2.8 but still very happy

I converted to L series lenses a few years back and was blown away by the quality of the images and the lens build quality. Having said that, my budget doesn't stretch to the f28 lenses. The f4 lenses are on my radar and im very happy with the results.

Excellent wide-angle lens

Pros - Ultra-wide angle - Great image quality throughout the image - Includes IS - Great price for what you get Cons - f4, but expected given the price - Minor barrel distortion, but totally acceptable given the wide angle - Physically a bit larger than I would have liked, but is acceptable

I love my new lens

Image quality is fantastic and is fairly easy to operate though is a bit bulky. i now need to review my own technical skills.

For the first few days I was dissapointed but later i have realised this is much better for shooting flats than the Zeiss 18 3.5 ZE i had before. It's great for wide angle shoots and ok for portraits at 35mm but I wish Canon would just make lens like Zeiss 15mm 2.8 for the price of the 16-35 4 IS

Versatile, IS is a killer good, distorsion in not bad; Sharpness is not too bad in corners

I guess it's sharper than other canon wide zooms but not as close as sharp as Zeiss 21mm 2.8 ZE; Out of focus part seem a bit weird as if they are result of camera shake

Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM

Another winner by Canon. I find this lens very difficult to find faults with. In fact this might be the first time I could not come up with a Con for this lens. Initially I thought the only possible negative I could come up with is that F/4 is not enough for certain astrophotography situations.

Landscape dream lens; 77mm Threads; Sharp images corner to corner even at F/4; IS; Locking Lens Hood

Not really; but in specific astrophotography situations; the aperture is not wide enough

Good extreme wideangle zoom lenses for full-frame cameras are not easy to find. Damien Demolder tests Canon's latest to see if it is up to the job

REVIEW: Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 L IS USM Lens Review

This new ultra-wide angle zoom lens should replace Canon's venerable 17-40mm f/4L optic in their line up of professional lenses. It sports a zoom range of just over 2x and a constant maximum aperture of f/4.

Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 L IS USM Lens Review

This new ultra-wide angle zoom lens should replace Canon's venerable 17-40mm f/4L optic in their line up of professional lenses. It sports a zoom range of just over 2x and a constant maximum aperture of f/4.

Outstanding sharpness across the frame from maximum aperture; Excellent build quality; Relatively lightweight; Reasonably low distortion; Low CA; Image stabilisation; Fast autofocus; Dust and moisture resistance

Distortion is wavy at 16mm; Far corners remain darker than the image centre; even when stopped down to f/16
