Best lens I have used
I love this lens. Since we got it, it is almost always on my camera, It takes amazing portrait shots and sharp macro shots. Amazing. I strongly suggest that this lens be in everybody's lens kit. I would only replace it with the L series lens if I have oodles of money to spare.
GOOD MACRO LENS
I AM USING THIS MACRO LENS ON A SONY NEX 7 CAMERA WITH A METABONES ADAPTER FOR MACRO AND PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY. I FIND THE LENS TO BE STURDY AND WELL BUILT. BOTH PORTRAIT AND MACRO PHOTOS CAME OUT IN VERY SHARP FOCUS. THE SHALLOW DEPTH OF FIELD FOR MACRO CAN GET VERY SENSITIVE.- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Nice Bokeh
- Rugged
- Strong Construction
- Slow Focus
So glad I bought this.
I considered this for a long time as it's not cheap. I nearly settled for the 60mm macro lens but online reviews suggested that this was a bit more flexible. I've used it hand held for macro work in my garden so far and am really pleased with the results.- Consistent Output
- Easily Interchangeable
- Quick Focus
- Sharp Focus
- Strong Construction
canon lense
this is a great lense with very clear optics.- good optics
- a bit heavy
Good for sunny conditions, basically
I've had this lens for many years now being used on my 60D THE PROS: The image quality is spectacular. Everything is very crisp above f/3.5. f/2.8 is nice but the DOF is way too shallow and the parts that are in focus are not as crisp.
Great Macro Lens
Amazing quality, fast auto focus with some focus hunting depending if you are close to or a little out from the minimum focus distance to the subject. Other than that great feel, with helpful IS and focus limiters.
Very good lenses for the price
Very sharp images, very good for product photography.
It's a lump
This is one lump of a lens, I could not make my mind up between this lens and the L version, but the extra expense just for IS just ain't worth it, you can use it by hand if you can hold it steady, but most of the time it will be on a tripod.
Great lens, as expected.
Super sharp images and saturated colors right out of the camera. The flower image accompanying this review was of a gooseberry blossom less than a half-inch long. If I had done more research, I would have noted the IS version of the lens, and probably gone for that, but I stick with a tripod almost...
We bought this used and it was supposed to be in "very good" condition. Definitely wouldn't consider that to be the case here. The main ring is loose and the lens looks like it has had a lot of use. The listing claimed it came with both the front and rear caps, which it did.
