Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens Review
The Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens has an excellent focal length range that includes the longest focal length found in a Canon zoom lens - 400mm. This long focal length and focal length range combine with very good image and build quality to make the 100-400 L one of the most popular...
Canon Ef 100-400MM F/4.5-5.6 Is Usm Lens Review
I purchased this lens over a year ago from unbeatable and it certainly was on price. If you are thinking about whether or not to buy this lens, 100% buy it. I am a pro watersports photographer and there isnt a day that goes by without it slamming an image into the back of the basket that makes me...- The ultra clear water droplets at 100metres and the incredibly sharp images that make water look like mercury!!
- Cant use a converter on auto
- but 1.4 can do
Canon 100-400mm L IS USM
This is Canon's longest zoom lens and is categorised as one of their L range. The lens has been around for some time now, earning itself a somewhat mixed reputation amongst digital photographers that didn't arise in the days of film. We take a look at this phenomenon.- Good contrast and colour
- Good AF speed that is quiet in use
- Nice focal range at acceptable 3:1 ratio
- Holds its value well
- Awkward manual focus at longer focal lengths
- Known problem with bearings giving up the ghost
- Wear in the bearings may well cause deterioration in performance
- May drag dust into the sensor
Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens...
Unusual push pull zoom action but it gives great control. This is a great lens for the wildlife enthusiast.

Canon EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS USM Full Review
The Canon EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS USM is Canon's premium telephoto zoom lens. It competes with the EF 300/4L IS and the EF400/5.6L prime lenses as a telephoto and with the EF 70-300/4-5.6IS as a wide range telephoto zoom.

Great lens for wildlife photographers
This is the first lens I got with my Canon 30D and now I use it on my 7D. For wildlife photography the reach of a 400mm is twice that of the 70-200 zoom. 400mm is 640mm with a smaller sensor - smaller sensor is like having a 1.6x tele converter. IS is great.- zoom range.
- Push, pull zoom
- Maybe f 5.6 at max zoom
Canon Lenses Rock!
This lens was the best investment to date for my photography equipment. I have only been back in to taking pictures now for a year or so. I researched a little on line to see what would be good for taking nature pictures.- Consistent Output
- Easily Interchangeable
- Quick Focus
- Sharp Focus
- Strong Construction
- Heavy
