Excellent! You get what you pay for.
My first "L" lens and wont be my last! Fast, precise and quiet auto focus. Love the two mode stabilizer to use with still or action shots. Use this also in bird photography, works wonderful!

I WOULD DEFINITELY BUY THIS LENS FOR WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY!
This is a great lens with a near perfect reach for shooting most wildlife photography, at least for my needs. You will have to get used to the push/pull zoom style as opposed to the standard turn zoom but thats an easy adjustment to make. Enjoy the lens if you buy one!

Smidigt och lättanvänt
Bra objektiv med trevligt zoomomfång. Skapligt snabb autofokus tycker jag.
Pros:
- Bra kvalitet både optiskt och mekaniskt
- Jag har haft mitt i mer än fem år och tycker det fungerar mycket bra
Cons:
- Jag har lite svårt för dragzoomen
- hade hellre sett en vridzoom
- men det kanske är svårt på dessa brännvidder

Very nice zoom with very big reach, there is no alternative. I have had the 400 F5.6L but saw no better IQ. The IS makes it possible to work without a mono-pod, but you need daylight off-course. Nice zoom for a visit to the zoo for example.

- IS shows it's age
- I need two hands to control the tightening ring

This Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens is a great lens to be owned by a professional photographer. It clicks pictures on different angles. The telephoto lens type is also great. This is an amazing lens.

The Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM Lens is a very good performer with few loopholes. You will find the resolution of the lens on a very high level throughout the zoom range with only a marginal performance penalty at 400mm.

Great lens
Gives a wide range of distance for wildlife photography. It does get heavy after several hours.

Expensive but worth it!
If it were lightweight, one can shoot for hours handheld. The push/pull zooming adjustment needs getting used-to. With a teleconverter attached, auto-focus is slow and it tended to "look" for the subject, thus, losing the shot of fast-moving birds like the wren.

Great Wildlife Lens!
This is my main lens for photographing wildlife. This lens has been to the wilds of Alaska, Wyoming, and all the way back to Pennsylvania. I love it! The lens produces sharp images, even at extended full length.
