Great lens
Gives a wide range of distance for wildlife photography. It does get heavy after several hours.

Great Wildlife Lens!
This is my main lens for photographing wildlife. This lens has been to the wilds of Alaska, Wyoming, and all the way back to Pennsylvania. I love it! The lens produces sharp images, even at extended full length.

Long Reach Zoom - Good for Sports
Purchased approximately 6 months ago to photograph my son's soccer team in action, this has been a good lens. In terms of features, it has 2 image stabilization settings, a close up focus limiter to save on battery power and is very well constructed. This is a tank of a lens.
Pros:
- Wedll constructed
- good reach
- sharp lens
Cons:
- Needs tripod or monopod
- not as bright as some L lenses

my experience using the Canon EF 100-400mm L USM lens
I use this lens on my 7D to shoot at air show / outdoor sports and wildlife ,The push / pull design is fast if you need to zoom rapidly in or out ,The wide focal length and max focal length and excellent image quality make the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM a highly versatile lens.

This Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens is a great lens to be owned by a professional photographer. It clicks pictures on different angles. The telephoto lens type is also great. This is an amazing lens.

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM
In low light conditions i use this lens mounted on monopod manfrotto 682B with 322RC2 joystick without any problem.Also i use this lens with 1.4 Canon extender on monopod with manuel focus,in this case images are a bit soft but if you are a raw shooter like me, it is not a poblem...
Pros:
- well constructed,IS works fine
- not too heavy
Cons:
- a bit soft images with jpegs but no problem with raws,rarely auto focus fails in low light conditions(especially inearly morning times

Top Notch lens
The Canon EF 100-400 mm f/ 4.5-5.6L IS USM lens has got to be one of the best value for money lenses out there and is a must for anyone getting into wildlife photography. If you have a Canon DSLR, there might be better lenses out there but no way near the price.

Excellent
My wife Had bought me this lens for our wedding anniversary and it's the best thing ever love it we all go camping , hiking Love my Lense it is one of the best lenses out there and yes it's not the steadiest Will you do close up but it's very nice go to airshows as well

Very easy to use, quick to focus and sharp images.
I have used this lens, coupled to my 7D, virtually every day since I got it just over 2 weeks ago and I am impressed with its ease of handling. Small birds feeding during the first couple of hours after daylight have been my main subjects to date.
