Meets and exceeds expectations
This lens is replacing a Tamron 75X300 mm lens AND a heavy and unvieldy Bower 650/1300 mm. I plan to purchase a Canon Extender Lens but as of now I do not know how it works with 100X400 mm lens.- The lens is easy to use
- The automatic focus is quick and accurate
- The manual focus override is smooth and easy to use
- The image stabilizer is very effective and I am able to do much more in handheld mode than I had expected.
- The weight of the lens makes for a heavy item to carry for an extended period - but - it is comparable with lenses of similar quality and range
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Telephoto Lens
Great Lens tac sharp photos quality build very robust
My GoTo lens for Sports
I shoot youth Football and Baseball and this lens lives on my camera about 6 months of the year. It's big and heavy but the breadth of range allows for flexibility that I'd otherwise need two bodies for.- Consistent Output
- Nice Bokeh
- Heavy
Not what was advertised
I wasn't what was shown, nothing like it, it was huge and heavy, a dinasour
Great lens
Fantastic lens but, sadly too heavy for my (old) arms and shoulders. The Image quality is superb.
Great lens, not a huge fan of push/pull zoom
I used this lens quite a bit for outdoor sports (football, soccer, field hockey) and it works pretty well, especially on bright, sunny days. Sharpness is on par every time. IS is flawless every time I take a photo.
Very easy to use, quick to focus and sharp images.
I have used this lens, coupled to my 7D, virtually every day since I got it just over 2 weeks ago and I am impressed with its ease of handling. Small birds feeding during the first couple of hours after daylight have been my main subjects to date.- Superior build quality
- Super-sharp images
- Fast auto-focus
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM
In low light conditions i use this lens mounted on monopod manfrotto 682B with 322RC2 joystick without any problem. Also i use this lens with 1.4 Canon extender on monopod with manuel focus,in this case images are a bit soft but if you are a raw shooter like me, it is not a poblem...- well constructed,IS works fine
- not too heavy
- a bit soft images with jpegs but no problem with raws, rarely auto focus fails in low light conditions(especially inearly morning times
Top Notch lens
The Canon EF 100-400 mm f/ 4.5-5.6L IS USM lens has got to be one of the best value for money lenses out there and is a must for anyone getting into wildlife photography. If you have a Canon DSLR, there might be better lenses out there but no way near the price.
