Awesome lens, takes amazing pictures from a distance. I can see into my neighbors window brilliantly with this lens. Yes it's heavy, but it's supposed to be, that's why it comes with a collar ring.

This lens is fast and takes beautiful sharp photos. Loving it.

Easy to use; Build quality

This is a very good lens. I had tried the old 100-400 F5.6 zoom and this new one is a different quality producing much sharper images and the auto-focus is also much faster and more precise. I also own the 400mm F5.6 fixed lens and both are very close sharpness at F5.6.

The Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM is a very capable but also pricey telephoto zoom lens that will appeal most to sports and wildlife photographers looking for a relatively lightweight and versatile lens.

I've owned this lens since it was released... two years ago. Firstly, don't confuse it with it's predecessor, the mark 1. The mark I was one of the most controversial lenses, where people either loved it or hated it.

I have had one of these for a couple of years and I continue to be blown away by it. Canon has produced a simply stunniung piece of glass. The performance is so fast and smooth and razor sharp. It does have a bit of weight to it and the combination of my 5DmkIII weighs in at some 6lb.
