Is this the best telephoto zoom on the market? Find out in our testing team's Canon EF 100-400mm Mark II review. A 100-400mm lens is a versatile option for shooting faraway sport or wildlife.

Works great with Canon's 5d Mark iii

Lens was well worth the wait. Pictures are sharp and clear. Full frame and vary, vary fast focus. Works well with Canon's 1.4 converter.

Excellent telephoto zoom

This is an excellent lens and a wonderful alternative to the very expensive primes in this focal length. Focus drifts a little but it may be my camera settings are not optimal for the lens

Can't beat the L quality lens I am using this lens with 7D giving me effect range of 160-640, the 3 modes of IS and very good close focusing (almost like macro lens) has made lens my favorite. The quality of pictures especially sharpness is simply superb!

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens Review

This eagerly awaited telephoto zoom lens replaces the old 100-400mm lens in Canon's lineup of professional lenses. Its predecessor was popular due to its relative compact size, light weight and good value for money.

Good sharpness; Excellent build quality; Novel zoom ring resistance adjustment; Relatively lightweight; Reasonably low distortion; Weather and dust resistant; Low CA; Image stabilisation; Fast autofocus

More expensive than the old 100-400mm ever was; but differences may be worth it to some

I made a series of interferometric measurements showing the lens being diffraction limited at all focal lengths, AND with Kanko 1,4x TC. I am astrophotographer and point light sources are any lenses nightmare. This lens performs up to the fullframe corner.

inredibly sharp at all focal lengths, very good color correction; The best lens I ever saw

a little heavy to carry all day

Great pics throughout the entire zoom range

I got this lens to be able to reach out further than the 70-200 lens that I already own. This Canon 100-400 F/4.5-5.6L IS II lens is great. I've used it to take pics of both moving (ex - fast flying birds) and still subjects with great success (great clarity, color, etc.).

Love the weather proofing

Im a surf photography or at least I would like to think so. The version II not being a push pull is a major winner for me.

A Lens You Should Consider!

The EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II USM is an outstanding lens for several reasons. The overall build quality is superb and there are many beneficial features included with the lens. Zooming with the new rotational zoom ring is very smooth and the tension can be adjusted from loose, where the lens will...

Exceeded my expectations

Excellent lens, the zoom adjustment ring eliminates lens creep. I already owned the 70-300 f4-5.6L IS and 300 f4L IS lenses and so thought long and hard prior to buying this but decided to go ahead for the extra reach it would provide for wildlife photography, I have absolutely no regrets.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Great Value Lens; Quick Focus; Rugged; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction; Top Quality Zoom
