Review of the Canon CanoScan LiDE 210 Flatbed Scanner
The Bottom Line The Canon CanoScan LiDE 210 is one of the smallest flatbed scanners I've ever reviewed. Don't be fooled by its size, though; the LiDE 210 offers a lot of functionality and convenience in a small footprint--and with a small price as well.
Pros:
- Small scanner
- yet scans up to 11.7-inch documents
- Five one-touch button choices for scanning to PDF or send to e-mail
- Runs off USB 2.0
- Can be mounted on its side to save space
- Inexpensive
Cons:
- Lid can only be raised a small amount
- OCR works only with Notepad

Works with a Mac
I have an iMac that is running on OS 10.6.5 Snow Leopard and the Canon software is compatible. This is definitely a plus because there aren't a lot of options there for third party Mac-compatible scanning software. My main uses include scanning multiple-page PDF files and occasional photocopying.
Pros:
- Easy Setup
- Fast PDF scans
- Good Resolution
- Useful software
- Widely Compatible
- Works on a Mac
- Works on Network
Cons:
- Loud

Great product. I purchased to scan old photos onto my computer in order to turn them into a photobook. They scaned perfectly!

Great scanner if you have loads of old photos to digitize and will scan & split multiple images. Uses very little power, laptop still runs for ages on battery power even when powering the scanner. Very quick, only takes approx. 10 secs on 300dpi.

Canon CanoScan LiDE 210
Flatbed scanners cover the full range of scanning needs, from single-page SOHO devices to high quality photo scanners and high throughput archival scanners. Canon's CanoScan range is aimed at consumers and the LiDE 210 is a little above its entry-level offerings.
Pros:
- Quick and generally above-average scans
- ScanGear is effective scanner applet
- Easy multi-page PDF creation
Cons:
- Very basic OCR
- Trouble resolving black and white test pattern
- Dust/scratch removal only passable

Nice, Small Scanner
I'd say buy this scanner if you do nothing more than documents and possibly a few photos. There is no need to buy a scanner with all the bells and whistles unless they are needed.
Pros:
- This scanner is nice and sleek and will fit in nicely in cramped quarters
- It also makes great scans
Cons:
- The install CD does not have divers for Windows7, 32 or 64 bit
- I learned this by putting it on an older computer just to check it out while waiting for a new computer
- I had to contact Canon about it and they promptly gave me a reply with how to download the drivers.

Canon's scanner interface not available some times
I found that the scanner worked fine with the software that comes bundled with it and does what it suppose to do with this software. However, this software does have its limitations (e.g. OCR works only with Notepad) and because of this I would prefer to use third party software.

Good choice
I've replaced my old Canon scanner due to lack of drivers for windows 7, nice going Canon! This one is very fast and works very well. Most suprising is the cost for performance is very low.
