Bigger isn't better, but I can deal with the size!
I received the Canon CanoScan 5600F scanner as a gift for mother's day.
Pros:
- Good Quality
- Quiet
- Easy to Set Up
- Easy to Use

Good buy - happy with purchase
Bought this scanner to replace an old, old one. I was amazed at how fast it scans documents and photos. Really like the negative scan ability. Overall a good value and I would recommend for a home/home office.

I purchased this mainly to scan 35mm negatives. My negatives are badly curled and don't want to fit into the supplied holder. I positioned a strip of negatives under the holder and held them in place while removing the holder. I put two strips of masking tape to mark the position of the negatives.

Great quality
High scan quality and fast operation. Only drawback is that the set up for front buttons may require reading through manual. Not a quick easy set up.

I've finally found a scanner for slides!!!!!!!!
I have 1200 slides to scan for my fathers birthday. I started with an Epson Perfection which did okay but was extremely slow. After 400 slides it gave out. Purchased an HP 3110 at competitor store and spent first 6 hours of ownership on phone with HP in India about extremely serious software issues,...

Good scanner for the money
I was looking for a scanner because I already had a quite good printer and I didn't like the idea to get one of those "all in one' thing. They just didn't fit to my requirements - they're either much more expensive than a simple couple "printer-scanner" or if they're cheap enough they cannot work...

Worked great for six years
I bought this scanner in 2010 and have had very good results with it over the years. It finally stopped responding recently (July 2016). Looking for a newer model to replace it, it appears this is still the latest version.

Canon CanoScan CS5600F
Although not top of the range, the CanoScan CS5600F is a well-specified flatbed scanner with an attractive price tag and could appeal to everyday consumers who need to scan both reflective originals (such as documents and prints) and images on film.
Pros:
- You need a low-priced, general-purpose scanner for copying documents and prints, You want a scanner the kids can use, You have high-quality original print images to scan
- Don't buy this scanner if, You have lots of film images to scan
- (It will take ages with this scanner.

Canon CanoScan 5600F
Any flatbed scanner is technically suitable for all-purpose scanning, since you can scan anything on it. But some are clearly targeted more for some uses than others. A case in point is the Canon CanoScan 5600F ($149.99 direct), which focuses on photos, and does its job well enough to deliver...
Cons:
- Scans only four slides or one strip of film at a time
- Dust and scratch removal feature does little for scratches
