Canon Speedlite 90EX

If you're looking for a compact flash for your Canon camera system, you won't find one much smaller than the Speedlite 90EX. It pairs very nicely with the EOS M, and if you leave the camera in automatic mode the resulting photos are quite pleasant.

Compact; Inexpensive; 24mm wide-angle coverage

No tilt or bounce; Slow recycle time; Inconsistent output depending on camera settings

Necessary Item

I ended up buying this flash after buying the EOS M. The "M" doesn't have a flash and there are many situations where you need one. The 90E was made for the "M" and really should have some with it.

quiet; Good Exposure performance; Superior build quality; very small

over priced; on the weak size

Great little flast

Can be used with the Cannon SL1 if you need a little more flash or diffused flash.

Works great, has a good coverage area and integrates well with my EOS-M camera; Has a diffuse with it that is great when you don't want harsh flash

Two issues; 1 it uses AAA and not AA batteries; two it does not telescope at all so it is a little limiting on my SL1 when I want to use a better flash than the built in unit

Bought this as a Wireless Trigger

Works perfectly as a wireless trigger for the two Canon Speedlite 430 EX II flashes that I use. Works strictly in E-TTL mode. It fires a short pre-flash trigger that activates the two slave units. Way cheaper than the new 600 EX-RT Speedlite. Well worth the $100 or so. B

Canon Speedlite 90EX Flash Review

The Canon Speedlite 90EX Flash is a tiny, light, nearly featureless flash with an also-tiny price. I should clarify: the flash itself is nearly featureless. When placed on a DSLR with a flash menu, the normal range of flash control options become available along with one feature that stands out: the...
