Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Review

Outside of gameplay, a key new change is the way in which Infinity Ward will be handling its season pass for this release – in that there isn't one. Instead it is opting for a "Battle Pass" that only affects the game's cosmetics, allowing you to customise the look of your multiplayer characters,...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Review – Comfortably Numb

It has been a bit of a roller coaster ride for Activision and Infinity Ward ever since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was revealed back in May. There was outrage over the rumored use of White Phosphorus and anger over the child soldier's sections.

Crossplay; 21 maps out of the box; Single player is back baby; No season pass; Visually stunning

Single player is scary short; Spec Ops is a chaotic punishing mess; PC players seem to crush

PS4 Review - 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare'

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare engulfs fans in an incredibly raw, gritty, provocative narrative that brings unrivaled intensity and shines a light on the changing nature of modern war.

Come for the Campaign, stay for the Gunfight-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare review

Modern Warfare aims to bring the series back to its roots and Infinity Ward delivered a cohesive experience catering to series veterans and newcomers alike. A boundary breaking single player and refined multiplayer experience make Modern Warfare a worthy addition to the franchise.

Full fledged single player experience; Gunfight is a welcome new addition; Survival fills the Zombies niche

The new engine had it's fair share of bugs; Ground War felt obtuse and chaotic; Survival is exclusive to the Playstation 4

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Review

Call of Duty is undeniably a piece of propaganda fiction that glamorises and bolsters the image of war, as well as the perspective and ‘righteousness' of western forces. That said, the campaign of this reboot of Modern Warfare tries heavy handedly, and at times problematically, to more fully and...

+ Complex storytelling; + Varied and impactful gameplay; + Polished and diverse multiplayer

- Heavy handedness; - Ethically inconsistent; - Spec Ops under-served

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare review

Overall, though, despite the disappointing co-op modes, Modern Warfare is a strong return to form for Infinity Ward. High quality, old-school multiplayer compliments an absolute riot of a campaign, and both boast true best-in-class production values. This feels like a new start for Infinity Ward, too - back to its roots, but backed up by the best tech in the game right now.

Best campaign in years; Incredible visuals; Strong, classic multiplayer;

Very disappointing co-op; If you’re bad at multiplayer, then you’ll suffer;

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare review – reboots on the ground

GameCentral reviews the entirety of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, including the multiplayer, Spec Ops, and story campaign.

A mountain of content bound together by Call Of Duty's typically excellent gunplay and map design; Gunfight and Ground War are both welcome additions and the graphics are very impressive

The campaign doesn't have the narrative courage to finish what it starts; Multiplayer has few genuinely new features and low TTK can be a problem; Special Ops is super hard and not much fun

PlayStation 4 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 COD MW review

A passable entry in the long-running series, the latest Modern Warfare is polished but lacks creativity. It’s certainly more of the same as a return to a once-beloved sub-series. Sadly, it fails to invigorate and impress on the same level as the groundbreaking Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare .
