Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Achieves Shooting Glory

You all know me; I'm a huge Call of Duty fan. I play it all the time and even go as far as enjoying the campaign modes. Yes I know the majority of what a CoD game consists of is multiplayer, but I always thought of the story as being as entertaining as any summer blockbuster movie.

Unfortunately, while the title sold pretty well, it failed to generate that much hype, so Activision is now hoping that Sledgehammer Games and its Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will take the series to new heights in terms of popularity amongst fans.

Exo suit changes gameplay for the better; Sci-fi gadgets make multiplayer more fun; Varied and quite impressive visuals

Bland mission design; Story has predictable twist; Washed out colors in quite a few environments

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Activision recently flew us out to grab an Xbox One controller to play the entire single player campaign of Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. It's now expected to see a new chapter in the Call of Duty series when Fall arrives and the leaves begin to change color.

New engine produces amazing graphics and sound quality; fun and engaging multiplayer for PvP and co-op; Exo suit abilities provide fun gameplay options

Story derails at the end with out of character decisions ; as usual; last few levels drag on a bit

Power changes everything. That's what Kevin Spacey's character, Jonathon Irons, has been telling us up until the release of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare . This is something that sets the atmosphere for Sledgehammer Games' first solo entry into the CoD franchise.

Entertaining Campaign l Great action and set pieces l Fast and fun multiplayer l Awesome co-op l Stunning graphics l That voice acting

Campaign is characteristically short l Hard to tell enemies against teammates l Generic plot

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Call of Duty: Ghosts hit last year with a tepid reception that in some ways was deserved and in other ways wasn't. The map lineup was very good, while the gameplay felt a bit long in the tooth.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Multiplayer feels wonderfully fresh, thanks to the added agility of Exo Suit boosting. Sadly, though, co-op is unimaginative, and the story fails to satisfy when compared to previous installments.

Massive multiplayer offering; Fresh gameplay mechanics in single and multiplayer; Outstanding visuals

Underwhelming campaign; Unimaginative co-op setting

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Xbox One Review

Call of Duty is immense, a true juggernaut of the gaming industry that has now been running long enough to feel as it's running out of ideas somewhat. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare however has a new lead developer in Sledgehammer Games, a fresh setting, a new engine, some genuinely fresh ideas for...
