Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare review

With a strong campaign and multiplayer that rejuvenates the fun of a tiring formula, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is everything Ghosts should have been. Made with the now current-gen consoles in mind, it's technically much more sound, with a campaign and characters that are actually interesting,...

+ Campaign is interesting; + Kevin Spacey; + Exo movement; + Pick 13 system; + Amazing sound

+ Some level design issues; + Co-op isn't anything special

The moment I realised that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was still a Call of Duty game at its core came when I opened a Supply Drop to find a pair of pants. That's right, a single pair of pants to customise my character with.

Editor's Note: Activision hosted a review event for this game and provided lodging, transportation, and food for the event.  This review is based on playing the game at the event and then a some multiplayer with the final retail version of the game.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Review – Xbox One (Also on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox 360)

The campaign proves that Call of Duty has not lost its touch and that's thanks to newcomer Sledgehammer Games. The new additions don't all work out but the core gameplay still shines. The double jump makes for some interesting changes to multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Review – Evolving the Franchise (PS4)

It's good.

Perfectly balanced exo suit; Tons of content unlocks; Presentation - Story; Weapon diversity

AI can be unreliable; Later vehicle missions are underwhelming

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Review

As the campaign launches on Sledgehammer's first Call of Duty, the first thing that pops off the screen is the visuals. The facial capture in both the CGI cut-scenes and the real-time rendered visuals

Great changes to the multiplayer; Single player is excellent; Stunning visuals

Plot is a little too safe; Survival mode needs work

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Review

Simply throwing a robot suit onto Call of Duty could have been a lazy path to making Advanced Warfare seem different from what we've played before, but the way Sledgehammer has integrated its enhanced abilities and choices into every aspect of how we fight went above and beyond.

Exo suit mobility; Great maps and modes; Creative campaign levels; Constant unlocks

Exposition dialogue

Game Review: Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

It's the year 2054 and tension between the Korean's is at an all time high and we're on the brink of a world war. You play as Private Jack Mitchell (Troy Baker) of the Marine Corps and the U.S military have sent in the troops in a seemingly impossible task to bring peace between the Koreans.

The best Call of Duty since the Modern Warfare days; Using the Exo-Skeleton abilities in singleplayer & multiplayer is a lot of fun; Engrossing popcorn-esque singleplayer campaign; Fulfilling multiplayer experience; More customisation options than ever before; So much bang for your buck

Abrupt ending; I would love to have seen option to upload facial scan for multiplayer
