Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Here we are, another year, another holiday season, and another Call of Duty game. It's getting so you can practically set your watch by it. Last year's Call of Duty 3 was farmed out to Treyarch for development with so-so results, but this time around Infinity Ward has taken back the reigns of the...

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Xbox 360 Review

There's certainly been an influx of World War II FPS's since Medal of Honor was released on the PlayStation back in 1999. The uninitiated may think that Call of Duty 4 is yet another one of these World War II games, although they would be mistaken as the fourth instalment in the series breaks...

Call Of Duty 4: Review

Call Of Duty 4: Review I first bought this game only in March 2008, long after it had been released, and from previous reviews I have read, I had very high expectations about this game. And, I am pleased to announce, Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare reached and easily exceeded my expectations.

A Modern Call To Battle

The days of the World War II era shooter may be over, and the Call of Duty series might be the first to defect. When Infinity Ward announced that all later COD titles would take place in a modern warfare setting, I had my doubts, and even more after my disappointment with Call of Duty 3.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare review (X360)

Infinity Ward's first-person shooters are renowned for superb storytelling, expertly designed levels, and perfectly tuned gameplay. They could have stayed true to form by churning out another tale from WWII and scored a smash hit.

Xbox 360 Review - 'Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare'

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare delivers amazing special effects, including use of depth of field, rim-lighting, character self-shadowing, real time post-processing, texture streaming as well as physics-enabled effects to enlist players into the most photo-realistic gaming experience yet.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

I keep playing Call of Duty 4. The more I do, the more I'm certain there must be something distinctly wrong here. After all, Infinity Ward has spent so much of their brief life tinkering around in the World War II era. When it came to Axis, Allies, Thompsons, and Garands, they were the pinnacle.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review

Modern Warfare delivers on the hype. It's a great looking game, has a solid campaign, and great online multi-player. More importantly, it shows that Infinity Ward can break from what they are comfortable with and still deliver a great game. Hopefully this trend continues.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

, author Bill McKibben suggests that if you really want to experience the adrenaline rush of war, don't watch it on TV. Instead, hire someone to throw a brick through your bedroom window in the middle of the night. McKibben was obviously writing many years before videogames like

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

While it may not have the longest single-player campaign around, what Call of Duty 4 lacks in quantity it more than makes up for in quality. Infinity Ward's newest first-person shooter is easily one of the best games of the year, a stunning accomplishment that you will not soon forget.
